We’ve said it many a time before (and a bit more frequently lately): we’ll always look a hooded gown moment on a red carpet. It’s such a throwback to Old Hollywood and unless the thing is terribly designed or unsuited to the wearer, it always lends them an air of mystery and sophistication. Miss Da’Vine, that’s your cue.
This is pretty spectacular. The color looks great on her and the fit is impeccable. But you have to know we’re going to complain about that sleeve situation. When it comes to single-sleeve dresses, it’s always best in our observation to keep the sleeve as simple as possible. Complicated or extravagant sleeves are going to throw off the visual balance. Sleeves that are literally part of the bust are exponentially worse. We realize designs like this are about the visual over any practical considerations, but she’s practically wearing a sling that prevents her from raising her arm. She looks great, but that one design element is terrible.
