Let’s be swanky as hell today. It’s TUESDAY and reality remains disappointing. Best to avoid it as much possible. What’ll you have?

Selena Gomez on Her Best Role Yet and Romance With Benny Blanco: “I’ve Never Been Loved This Way”
Candid talk about her evolving plans for motherhood and more from the star of Emilia Pérez and Only Murders in the Building.

Gomez has long since given up on wigs and hats as cloaking devices. In the 25 years since she debuted on Barney & Friends at the age of seven, she’s actually tried to let go of every kind of disguise and be the same person in public and private. It’s a gutsy endeavor for someone who, thanks to Instagram, has the slightly scary-sounding distinction of being the most followed woman on earth. For three years Gomez has been part of the delicious hit series Only Murders in the Building, and she’s just given the rawest performance of her career in the audacious movie musical Emilia Pérez. Gomez plays a Mexican drug lord’s terrified but wildly resourceful wife. When the movie hits theaters in November, her work will surprise the many, many people who didn’t know what a fiery actor she could be.

A Valentino retrospective: 10 defining moments in history
A brief look back…

As Alessandro Michele prepares to unveil his Spring/Summer 2025 collection for Valentino, we take a look back at the iconic house’s rich history.
The Maison Valentino was founded in 1959 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti in Rome. From the very beginning, the house stood for creative designs, elegance and excellent craftsmanship, values that are still present over 60 years later.
Born in 1932 in Voghera, Italy, Valentino was always passionate about fashion, when he apprenticed under a local designer when in primary school. He moved to Paris to study at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne when he was just 17, and went on to work with Jacques Fath, Balenciaga, Jean Dessès and Guy Laroche.
In 1959, he relocated to Rome with the aim of opening his own fashion house, which he did, after meeting architect Giancarlo Giammetti, who would become his business and life partner, taking over the non-creative aspects of the business.

Go Behind the Seams of ‘Emily in Paris’
Costume designer Marilyn Fitoussi told InStyle exactly what went into creating the series’ buzzed-about fashion.

Without her clothes, Emily in Paris would just be, well, Emily. Throughout the now-four seasons of Netflix’s hit show, its millions of fans have clearly become invested in the love triangles, fashion industry drama, and scenic European landscapes that Emily Cooper continues to find herself in. However, through all the PR crises and relationship turmoil, it’s the way the characters are styled that puts this show in a world of its own. Not just another romantic-dramedy about a new girl in town. No. Because of the clothes, Emily in Paris has become Emily. in. Paris.

Halo-Halo
Blue, red, and yellow evoke the Filipino flag in this classic recipe.

Halo-halo is a dessert and a feast for the eyes. This glorious amalgamation of multi-colored fruits, beans, and jellies nestled upon a mound of shaved ice is not only beautiful to look at, but the flavors run the gamut of sweet, earthy, tropical, and creamy. Growing up in a Filipino household, my parents made any excuse to bring out their shaved ice machine. It was quintessential to have a halo-halo table at parties where you’d see all the jars and bowls of toppings laid out for guests to load their Solo cups up with however much they wanted. I used to fill mine with extra big scoops of ube and mango ice cream.

Are “Coolcations” the Future of Travel?
It’s the end of August and I’m hiking in Gstaad, Switzerland, listening to the chimes of cowbells faintly echo in the cool mountain air. While I’d typically be on a beach in the Mediterranean this time of year, 2024’s record-breaking heat waves have marked a turning point for the planet—and summer vacations. July saw not one, but three of the hottest days ever observed worldwide. These sweltering temperatures across Southern Europe and beyond, have brought upon the rise of “coolcations”—the trend of traveling to destinations that offer a reprieve from stifling weather.
“While weather has always been a factor for travel—winter storms during the holidays, hurricanes in the summer—the heat wave across Europe last summer followed by the wildfires in Greece and Maui had a profound effect,” says Misty Belles, vice president of global public relations at travel agency network Virtuoso.

The Architect of Zendaya’s Red-Carpet Style
Some see stylists as glorified personal shoppers. The fashion industry has been slow to recognize the profession. The Council of Fashion Designers of America did not create a Styling Award until 2022. (That year, the C.F.D.A. honored Roach, and it has subsequently discontinued the category.) But Roach, who prefers to call himself “an image architect,” has shown that stylists have real clout. Earlier this year, for the world première of “Dune: Part Two,” in London, he and Zendaya chose a vintage Thierry Mugler robot suit reminiscent of the Fritz Lang sci-fi classic “Metropolis.” (Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya’s “Dune” co-star, “was, like, ‘What the fuck?,’ ” Roach said, miming shock.) The look generated a hundred and fifty-two million dollars for Mugler in media-impact value, according to Launchmetrics, a company that measures brand awareness.

Each cycle of the Monster franchise intends to tackle a different true-crime story after the massive success of the 2022 debut about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Beautiful in blue: Tatler‘s Jewellery Editor showcases September’s birthstone, sapphire, in 28 vibrant pieces
At Queen Victoria’s coronation in 1838, the Stuart Sapphire enjoyed the most prominent position in the crown

The Crown Jewels are the United Kingdom’s most precious treasures. Comprising more than 100 pieces of royal regalia, each sacred item symbolises the power and continuity of the monarchy.
The Imperial State Crown is set with 2,868 diamonds and features some of the most famous jewels in the world; the Black Prince’s Ruby (actually a spinel), the Cullinan ll Diamond and the Stuart Sapphire. The latter, a 104-carat blue sapphire, is believed to have originally belonged to Charles ll.
At Queen Victoria’s coronation the Stuart Sapphire enjoyed the most prominent position in the crown, just below the Black Prince’s Ruby, as seen in Sir George Hayter’s 1839 coronation portrait of her. When the Cullinan Diamond was discovered in 1905 it took centre stage in the crown, and the sapphire was relocated to the back, where it remains today.
Tatler’s round up of the most beautiful sapphires, will leave you feeling anything but blue.

Gen Z Has Regrets
Was social media a good invention? One way to quantify the value of a product is to find out how many of the people who use it wish it had never been invented. Feelings of regret or resentment are common with addictive products (cigarettes, for example) and addictive activities like gambling, even if most users say they enjoy them.
For nonaddictive products — hairbrushes, say, or bicycles, walkie-talkies or ketchup — it’s rare to find people who use the product every day yet wish it could be banished from the world. For most products, those who don’t like the product can simply … not use it.

Fashion Icon Christian Siriano Transforms a Dilapidated Richmond, Virginia, Mansion Into a Family Sanctuary
The Federal-style pile needed a complete overhaul—and she was his toughest client yet

True to his Project Runway roots, Christian Siriano, the celebrated fashion designer known for his use of bold hues and elegant silhouettes, loves “a reveal moment.” How lucky then that his most recent interior design project featured not one, but two such occasions. Despite Siriano’s plans to transform a circa-1908 Federal-style home in Richmond, Virginia, into an investment property, his mother, Joye, made a surprise reveal halfway through the renovation process.
“Many of my family members are in Richmond,” Siriano—who launched his namesake interiors business with a furniture collection in 2021—begins. “We found this incredible house with so much history and beauty, despite it being in a very dilapidated state.” All four floors required a complete gut renovation. And as the walls came down, Siriano’s mother, who makes semi-regular appearances on his Instagram sporting his designs and who was looking to relocate to the Southern city, realized the home was meant to be her own. “She was probably the hardest client we’ve ever had,” he laughs.
