2014 Toronto Film Festival Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on September 09, 2014

This is going to be an uncharacteristically nice rundown, kittens. Our TIFF coverage is backing up, because the stars are really bringing their A game to this film festival and we can’t seem to keep up while still doing the whole Fashion Week thing. So here it is. An extremely rare case of T Lo doing driveby niceness. Mark your calendars and let’s get to it.

Abigail Spencer in Dolce&Gabbana

Stunning. Jaw-dropping. She is serving up Capulet family realness and we are HERE for that. She is perfectly suited to the dress and so is the styling. Brava.

Jessica Chastain in Christian Dior

Cute. Sassy. Still don’t love the hair. Pink pumps would’ve been fun.

Connie Britton in Sachin & Babi

Really love the silver rose fabric. Kinda wish the whole dress had been made out of it. Still, it’s a striking look.

Naomi Watts in Antonio Berardi

Okay, this is the only one we’re going to be not-nice about. The blocking around the waist looks almost exactly like a garter belt. It’s really distracting. We could have lived with it, but the silver horns take it past acceptable.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Sticking with what works. Nothing wrong with that. Great color.

Oh, wait. No, we have to be not-nice about this one. She’s too pale for all that white, the silhouette’s doing nothing for her, and those shoes are twee.

GOD that felt good.

Okay, back to being nice.

Anna Kendrick in J. Mendel

Cute dress. Some boldly colored shoes would have made us happy.

We didn’t know she could pull off this brand of sleek and sexy, but she’s doing it.

Eddie Redmayne in Burberry

FABULOUS color.

The dress and the face are so cute, but the hair’s not up to the task.

Vera Farmiga in Michael Kors

We dig her “religious-compound chic” aesthetic, which she returns to often. It really works for her brand of vaguely weird.
