Darlings, you know how much we hate to be the bitches in the room, but we have to say it.

She has a talent for making chic, expensive-looking clothes come off… not “cheap,” so much as “ordinary.” This is a gorgeous little Oscar de la Renta dress. She puts it on and it looks like something nice you’d buy at a decent department store to wear to a wedding. We give her a lot of credit for trying to wear chic and/or interesting things on the red carpet, but the fact of the matter is, she doesn’t always (we might even say rarely) demonstrate an ability to wear such clothes well. Picture this dress on Cate Blanchett or Lupita Nyong’o.

      She Fox’d it up.

I think it’s because she just seems so doll-like and lacking in charisma. She’s not selling the clothes, she’s not working the clothes, she’s just wearing the clothes.

      • Zuber

        You mean Fox’d it down!

    • Jane

Way too much hair for that cute little dress.

      • sienna elm

Ya, for her it seems to always be about the hair.

      • Theresa

I had the same thought – it’s always about having great swaths of hair over her shoulders, like that is what we want to see and not the top third of her dress. Maybe if she had more elegance in her hair style, it would elevate how she’s seen.

      • evave2

I agree, the hair covers up the shoulders (does it have straps, the model is wearing a jacket so I can’t tell on her either).

Would it have looked better if she had black nails on her hands as well as her tootsies? Heidi looked so cool earlier today.

Personally I think she looks really deflated, because it appears that she has been jetting all over the world for these premieres and is not giving out any energy here.

Yeah, her hair looks really tired.

      • Jessica Peterson

I call my hair my brown cape. It’s like I wear a cape with every outfit.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I think I’d prefer the dress if it only had 2 out of the 3 patterns on it. And obviously it’d look better without those hideous hair extensions.

      • Sarah

Yah that hair is SO annoying. What is wrong with an updo now and then, Megan?

        • demidaemon

She has the ANTM mentality about extensions: “I paid for these so now I need to showcase them everywhere. What, no, I can’t cut them off?” Cue bawling.

          • Kitten Mittons

That’s what I want to see: a bunch of Hollywood starlets get ANTM-like makeovers, particularly the worst extension offenders. That would be delicious.

            • demidaemon

This made me laugh evilly. Now we just need to decide who gets to play the role of master manipulator (Tyra).

            • Kitten Mittons

Ooooh. Good question. Tyra herself could do it, but that’s too easy. Plus, she has a talk show and all so she has to play nice with celebrities, probably.
My first instinct is to go with someone who knows hair, so my choice might be Tabitha the Hair Witch from Shear Genius fame. And you know she’s smart enough that she can throw shade at a level waaay above someone like Megan Fox’s understanding.

            • demidaemon

I like Tabitha as an option, though I am pretty sure Tyra got her talk show canned.

            • Kitten Mittons

Whaaaaaaat? Clearly I don’t get to watch daytime tv.

But…but she was the self-proclaimed next Oprah!!

            • demidaemon

Haha! I remember reading about it awhile ago on TWOP. You can always tell when one of Tyra’s side projects goes bad, as they suddenly stop getting mentioned on ANTM.

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

      It’s those goddamn extensions.

      • Anique Ashraf

Exactly my thoughts! They’re so obviously fake looking.

        It’s also the dark!Barbie make-up.

      • jen_vasm

I’m just imagining her with a realistic amount of hair at a reasonable length and it makes a world of difference.

        • Anne At Large

How stunning would she be with a bob? I love the dress, the hair just drags it down.

    • CelandineM

That hair, the shoes and her orange legs all help cheapen that great dress. One the other hand, that’s the best makeup I have seen on her in ages.

    • lunchcoma

I’m trying to think what she could do to make it better. Would an updo and makeup that said “edgy” rather than “glamorous” help?

    • TM

Ugh, maybe if it was a touch looser or longer or… if it was worn by someone else. Yes that too.

    • JauntyJohn

Okay, I would be the very first to admit I am about as far from her intended demographic as one can get, but with disclaimer in place, may I just say that she always looks, no matter what she’s wearing, like one of those car models at the auto show who just stand by the new car being unveiled as kind of living props.

      • homofascist

As a professional car model with a degree in standing (with a minor in smiling) I take offense to this.

    • MarissaLG

I think it’s the hair. She has got much too much hair on her head.

    • Auntieshoque

Nothing to say about the dress, since I agree. But it’s nice to see someone who can apparently wear an almost totally naked shoe and not look like she’s clenching her toes for dear life.

      • marlie

Except half of her toes are hanging off of the side of the shoe.

    • Sarah

I like how they added the buckle to the naked shoe. It’s as if someone at Zanotti thought “We know your toes are already gripping for dear life. Let’s give the illusion of strapping them down, just for good measure.”

    • hughman

After she slaps on her Face-Mask and her Hair Coat, you can’t even concentrate on her dress. It’s just a stand for all the Megan Parts.

    • http://instagram.com/nevareese International Model

      Tres Mall.

    • Candigirl1968

Fox usually fails to add any accessories, wears her hair too long in almost the same dull way each and every time and rarely has the greatest or most interesting makeup. Her dresses (and sometimes shoes) are pretty, but generally they are not spectacular enough to carry all of the load.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

Did her hair just get waaay longer in just a matter of days?

Is she one of those dolls with a wheel in the back – turn the wheel, pull more hair out of the top of the head?

      • MilaXX

        the magic of extensions

      • decormaven

        Tressy doll.

    • In_Stitches

On Megan, the bust goes straight into the torso segment, making it look like she tucked a tank top into a corset. On the model, the white segment floats over the middle (I think), giving it a breezier, chic-er feel.

    • SayWhaaatNow

      It’s the sex-doll hair.

    • megmegmeg

I don’t know, it reads very Marshalls/TJ Maxx to me, in a way that not even Cate or Lupita could save.

    • http://msavonelljrose.blogspot.com Avonell

She gave a great naked shoe game though. You have to admit that.

    • holla

maybe if her hair was less causal and she put on some jewelry, it will not come off as “mom’s just steppin’ out for a minute for the poledance”

    • Nancer

So – why do you think it is that she can’t pull off these dresses? Because she’s beautiful, and it fits her well. Is it the styling? The hair? Something is working against her in this. I’m going to go with hair; that spaniel hair just deflates the look.

    • Gatto Nero

That’s because she’s blandness personified. Killer plastic Barbie bod and tons of hair can’t make up for a lack of presence. There’s nothing behind the eyes.

    • MilaXX

I agree, but I think this is one of her better efforts. Even her face looks less plastic. Go up a size in the shoes and I’d give her a pass on this look.

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

I was thinking her face looked softer and more natural. Less harsh lipstick suits her.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

She takes everything to such a dull, sorority place with the styling. I think with great hair, interesting makeup, well-selected jewelry, and a facial expression she could do a dress like this justice. There’s a long way to go, but it’s not out of reach!

    • Anna

      Life in plastic, it’s fantastic.

(I saw a picture the other day of her from the first Transformers premiere and she really is unrecognizable. She was actually very pretty with her human face).

      • KinoEye

And it’s crazy how much her face had already changed from pre-fame to that first Transformers. She looked so much better before. I think that might be what bothers me about her so much — she is completely manufactured, all surface. Granted, we’re talking about celebrities, but it just seems so damn obvious with her.

        • Anna

So true. And I get that if you’re unhappy, you don’t have to walk around with the face or body you were born with anymore, fine. That’s your choice and modern technology has given you that option.

But don’t front like you came by it naturally. I remember seeing a few years ago an article with some Facebook photos she posted of herself claiming something like, “Oh, I’ve never had Botox because look, I can do this,” accompanied with “all-natural and candid” shots of her trying to arch her brow (because I don’t know about you, when I try to convince people with all-natural and candid shots, I’m wearing false eyelashes in the photos). ETA: I looked up the article again and the lighting just also happened to be perfect in these candid photos.

          AS. FUCKING. IF. MEGAN FOX.

          • demidaemon

I think anyone who says, “No, I have never been to the ‘dentist’” (Kathy Griffin’s euphemism) is just begging people to prove them wrong, which is why I respect those who admit to any work they’ve had done, because Hollywood is already fake enough.

            • Anna

Her and Nicole Kidman seem to be the worst offenders when it comes to that. Everybody knows, it’s not like people are going to start believing them all of a sudden the more they deny it.

            • demidaemon

It’s true. Although at least Megan knows when to lay off a little, but she is still too young for it.

            • Anna

I think she’s kept tweaking over the years and as she’s earned more money. As KinoEye mentioned above, her face had already changed between pre-frame and the first Transformers which was WAY too young then, she’s not even 30 now.

            • demidaemon

              Good points.

    • Wink

No matter what she wears, it always reads “brunette Barbie.”

    • marlie

She looks… fine. Cute dress, but her hair is totally obscuring it. And those shoes are a tragedy, and this coming from someone who doesn’t necessarily hate the “naked” shoe.

Also, I’m already tired of her and this poledance, and I can’t wait for the movie to crash and burn so she’ll just go away.

      • demidaemon

We are of like minds. please, just let it end, so we can go back to the classic versions and never speak of this travesty again.

    • Dino Bonačić

Oscar de La Renta for Target?

    • Glam Dixie

Your Megan Fox doll comes with head tilting and blinking action! Mouth opens and then opens more but never closes! Comes with stand so you can make her do the peepee pose! Order now! (cheap accessories sold separately)

    • littlething

It’s the Real Housewives hair. Cheapens everything.

      • Shawn EH

For real. She may have had better surgery than most of them, but the end result is still a tacky sense of beauty.

    • Shalhevet

It would help the chicness immensely if she toned down the makeup and bronzer/tan.

    • FibonacciSequins

The dress is great. The styling is bringing it way down. Her makeup is too heavy, the shoes don’t fit, and those extensions are just ratty-looking (as most are).

    • Latin Buddy

She always looks like she has shit ton pounds of makeup and hairspray on

    • flamingoNW

Hair and makeup are the problem. Wish she’d go pixie.

    • Wink

She is slowly morphing into Priscilla Presley.

    • clatie

everything she wears if overshadowed by her stripper fake face and extensions.

    • ejsesqueer

yeah I think it’s because her hair is always in the way of the dress

    • Imasewsure

That is a really cute little dress… agreed that it’s not exactly singing it’s price tax on her however. Still cute though… awful hair (still)

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

      Too. Much. Hair.

      • somebody blonde

Agreed. You know what would actually improve her look a lot? A REALLY short cut. I’m thinking a chin-length bob or a pixie cut. She has a girly enough face for it.

    • random_poster

The dress is cute, but I don’t think it looks chic or expensive on the model, either. It’s about what I expect to find in the Michael Kors @ Macy’s section.

    • EEKstl

Just not fitting her well and she has GOT to part with some of that hair. Love the shoes, tho.

    • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

I want to see her with toned down makeup and a sleek bob haircut. And pants.

    • ItAin’tMe

These girls will just not leave their faces alone.

    • quiltrx

She comes off as cheap no matter what she wears…of course she’s going to “cheap down” the clothing.
She always looks to me like this is her ‘walking in’ outfit, before she goes to put on her costume for swinging on the poles. Yuck.

    • musi_

the hair doesn’t help. ordinary is the perfect word for this.

      • frannyprof

Yes! I was just about to say the same thing! Time to ditch the extensions, I’m thinking.

    • frannyprof

Everything about her is so 2010.

    • demidaemon

I feel as bad for that dress as I do for the reputation of this franchise, now that they have been associated with people like Megan Fox and Michael Bay.

    • Dagney

      the extensions are KILLING me.

    • altermyego

I’ve never seen her in anything. Can she act? Because she’s not a style icon and if she does have a personality it doesn’t come across in these pictures. So what’s her appeal? Why
does she get cast in big movies?

    • MsC

Everything she touches turns to sleaze.

    • SophieB210

Well it doesn’t help that half the dress is covered by her brindle extensions.

    • Qitkat

I like this dress so much, but I think the white ought to have been the middle pattern.

    • Jennifer Schiller

I don’t know, I don’t really love the dress to begin with. Those top two prints scream Macy’s bedding collaboration to me. I do however love the model’s necklace.
