Luke Evans at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2015 Fashion Show

Posted on June 27, 2014

This guy’s head drives us nuts. Not in the good way.

You’ve got all this great raw material and what do you do with it? Porn mogul. Slicked back hair and a wispy, patchy attempt at facial hair. Why? Why is this his default look? Who told him this worked for him? We’d prefer to see him with shorter hair, but he can also work hair longer than this, so long as he stops loading it up with product. Go for a lush, romantic Mr. Darcy kinda ‘do, if you absolutely must sport fuller, longer hair, Luke. This pseudo-mullet shit has to stop.

Gorgeous clothes, though. Then again, they were just handed to you an hour ago, weren’t they?

I don’t really understand the appeal of greasing your hair that much. I just imagine it would feel like a slightly sticky helmet if you touched it.

    • Anna

Yeah, I really don’t want to run my fingers through that.

      • James

I am pretty sure you couldn’t even if you tried. Gelmet.

    • Once it has dried, it will be like crispy. :/

    • titaness25

I’m convinced it’s an attempt at waterproofing. Like a duck’s back.

      • RussellH88

We should call it “Monsooning”, then.

  • Kathy_Marlow

Now, I want to watch Pride & Prejudice again…doesn’t matter which one. I like both Darcy’s

    • MoHub

My ideal Darcy was David Rintoul in the BBC miniseries. He absolutely fit my mental image when I originally read the novel.

    • Alyssa

I do too! I prefer the Colin Firth miniseries.

      • Violentcello

God yes. Apparently Jennifer Ehle is in the new Robocop. Haven’t seen it yet so I don’t know how big a role it is, but I definitely got a little excited when I saw she was there.

        • MemHey

I followed this new-to-me info to imdb only to learn she was in The King’s Speech as Mrs. Logue and -GASPSQUEEJOYELATION- the Darcies have a scene together! Made my heart so very happy! And my fiancé was amused by my bubbly giggles.

        • ohayayay

I was so sad when I heard she was originally cast in Game of Thrones as Catelyn Stark, only to turn it down to go make Contagion. It was an okay movie, but THINK OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN.

          • Violentcello

I don’t know, could you handle watching Elizabeth Bennett get murdered? It would have broken my heart.

    • Aidan B

My fiancé and I just watched the 2005 film again this weekend. Never gets old.

    • julnyes

I’m a sucker for any version of Pride and Prejudice. I actually just got “The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet” novel in the mail today because I am currently obsessed with the web series ‘The Lizzie Bennet Diaries” which is a modern retelling of P&P. All Darcys are good Darcys.

  • Donna Tabor

    Hush. He’s beautiful.

    • demidaemon

  • OffToSeeHim

I’d photoshop out his hair and put different hair on him. Would you get in trouble for that?

  • NMMagpie

Many people must leave their homes with wind-proof hair.

  • MilaXX

The pseudo mullet doesn’t bother me as much as the product abuse and patchy facial hair does. Shave & shampoo and all will be well in the world.

  • Barbara Affolter

Why is Sean Penn his default head? Luke, you have a better head than Sean Penn. Don’t hide your head-lamp under a Penn-bushel.

  • FibonacciSequins

Some people just have aggressively bad taste.

  • Beardslee

Does he look good in that white sweater. Golly…

    • Leah Elzinga

I want to rub my face on that sweater like a cat. TMI?

  • MoHub

Maybe it’s my aging memory, but I get that feeling that cleaned up, he’d look a lot like Robert Goulet in his Camelot days.

  • James

First I’d wash his hair. Then I’d give him a shave. With a straight razor. That ought to make him feel manly enough to allow the removal of that patchy growth which probably serves the same purpose. Even if it looks hiddy.

  • Alyssa

Seriously, it’s like he’s trying aggressively hard not to be his beautiful self.

  • Amel

I don’t know, I’m not big into the too-tight jacket with the too-long pants. Just seems incongruous. Once he took off the jacket it looked better, I thought

  • Dino Bonačić

Hate the look of dyed black hair on a manly man. My personal faux-pas.

    The blazer is gawjuss indeed!

  • Nancer

Mr. Darcy… oooh, Colin Firth! Forever my favorite… Hmm, what? Oh, yeah. Luke Evans. Great clothes!

  • Aidan B

He really wears that LV well. Clean up the head a little and this would be perfection.

  • KinoEye

Oh, heavens yes to the Mr. Darcy style. That would work much, much better for him.

He looks like a more rugged version of Orlando Bloom to me, but they have weak, sleazy grooming in common, it seems.

  • Jessica Freeman

I love the jacket, but not with the shirt. He’s handsome, and we can see that even under his attempt to hide it.

  • marlie

I love his outfit. I have a weak spot for Luke Evans, so I’ll take him as is, thankyouverymuch.

  • Lani A. George

Next to last shot — is that Nina Garcia sitting behind him?

    • julnyes

Doesn’t look like her to me.

  • boweryboy

    That blazer. I die.
    That facial hair. Pathetic.
Last photo. Are male stars doing the pigeon toed stance now?

    • TAGinMO

RIGHT? As silly as it looks when women stand that way, it looks exponentially sillier when a man does.

When we see our first guy doing “Gotta Pee,” it’s pretty much over, as far as I’m concerned.

  • Danielle

I just do NOT get it.

  • Crystal

Who is advising this man?!?! Who looks at a person who has the potential to be devastatingly handsome and suggests that they go for gross instead?!?!

  • Tarquin

    He looks SMUG

  • Wink

Tailoring is off on the jacket and slacks, but he looks good in the white sweater. A modified buzz cut would go well with his strong jaw and thick neck.

  • formerlyAnon

Your review of hair is dead on. I concur.

  • Gatto Nero

So much squandered potential. The slicked-back style seems to be masking the lack of a decent (recent) haircut.
He could handle longer hair, with much less product.

  • Shawn EH

I think it’s probably really curly, so he copes by straightening it. Does not detract from the overall dreamboatness for me.

  • Sophie

The facial hair is the worst part. Love the jacket.

  • Ashleigh

    like the shoes…

  • Imasewsure

Yes no love for this gorgeous man for all of the reasons stated here by our dear uncles (and I’ve never seen him act either)… love the clothes though…

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Oh, I think he looks pretty fine just the way he is. That is a beautiful jacket.

  • BLauDGaspode

I’m not sure who he is, but I would have pegged him for a porn mogul for sure. That patchy, gross attempt at facial hair is distracting and ruins whatever good looks he may have going for him. Blech. I’m not a fan of facial hair, but at least commit to clean shaven or full out growth. Stay home in the meantime.
Clicking through to Darcy was by far the pleasantest bit of my morning.

  • Denise Rambo

He needs to shave his neck.

  • julnyes

The best thing about this post was the link to the Darcy images. I’m drooling into my keyboard.

  • Inspector_Gidget

Hadn’t made the porn connection but that nails it. All he needs is a gold necklace.

  • Kaylee

If you read interviews with Luke the hair situation is basically this: The Crow was supposed to start shooting this year but it keeps getting delayed, and he’s had to grow it and dye it for that. Because of the delays he’s now shooing High Rise instead, which is set in the seventies, and they’ve cut and straightened it for that. He finds it pretty difficult to tame anyway as it’s curly and grows in all different directions, so his personal preference is for short hair. The facial hair is his own fault although loads of Welsh men have it like that.

    • Sly

Thanks for the explanation! I believe most celebrities hair situation are due to movies, than due to personal preference. We should be more considerate of that.

      • Kaylee

Oh, I’ve remembered another thing, I think he’s said that he has sensitive skin and that’s why he doesn’t shave when he doesn’t have to. I am a bit disturbed now that I seem to have memorised all the personal grooming habits of Luke Evans.

        • demidaemon

Even if it is disturbing, I can’t really blame you at all. STALKERS UNITE!

  • demidaemon

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree. This entire picture is working for me, especially the shots with the coat off. HUBBA HUBBA.

  • Kate4queen

    I like him, 🙂

  • FridaStaire

Taking smug-mug to a whole new level! Love the shoes.

  • ShaoLinKitten

Re: the hair, let me put it to you this way– I don’t like it, but I could find a way to get past it since his face is so dreamy. Also, that widow’s peak. Mmmmm.

  • kerryev

    Love the adorable, scene-stealing ushers.

  • ktr33

    Hi, I’m a douche.

  • korilian

Is it me or were he and Orlando Bloom seperated at birth?

  • JynxTheCat

mmm…I dunno…I like all that face. So I forgive but I def see the turn off of the grease but whats a boy to do with hair to short for a pony and too long to let fly? Also he looks SO chich in that white top navy pants. yum

  • Pterodactyl111

Guys, if you can’t grow it out evenly, then you need to shave it all off.
