Dave Franco at the “22 Jump Street” LA Premiere

Posted on June 11, 2014

It is SO DAMN REFRESHING to see a boystar working a summer suit on the red carpet – and not looking like he’s leaving a job interview.

Love it all. The color, the fit, the polka dots – it’s seriously working for us.

Okay, yes. We might’ve gone with a light brown shoe. He’s 99% perfect. Considering the vast and epic wasteland that is known as male celebrity style, he deserves all the huzzahs.

    • Sarah

He looks cute, but is it a wee bit tight?

      • traceyishere

Perhaps just a smidge, but not terribly so.

        • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I thought so, too. The jacket looks better unbuttoned.

      • Kent Roby

It’s pulling at the crotch, so it’s perfect!

    • stephbellard

      Dave = 1 James = 0

      • mshesterp

I have a feeling it’s going to be that way for the next 50 years. James has become so skeevy. Dave all the way! He’s subtly hilarious in all his movies (usually as the douchiest of douches, which means he’s channeling his brother).

      • Leah Elzinga

        Dave = 1 James = -49823084392048329

    • shuaib

      So close yet so far.

    • Tiffany Birch

      EYEBROWS!

    • kimmeister

      +1 He shaved!
      -1 Where’s the belt?
+1 His smile looks fairly genuine!

    • ashtangajunkie

      Loving the dots!

    • hughman

You just know he has Thom Browne pics all over his Tumblr.

      • imspinningaround

the shade of it all dot gif

    • Allison Angier

I don’t care for the white buttons. They’re all yee-hawwww lookin’. Also the shoes look like he polished them with pool cue chalk and a dusty bandana. Nope, I’m getting a distinct honky tonk whiff from this one.

ETA: The angel of eyebrows blessed him. Thank you, angel of eyebrows!

      • housefulofboys

I read this at first as “he polished them with…a dusty banana” and was cracking up at the mental image.

    • Danielle

      Standing ovulation, sir.

      • Julie Chase

Those eyebrows make me think impurely.

        • Danielle

Oh my God, kindred spirits. I’m glad I’m not the only one who goes wild for a full man brow.

    • demidaemon

Needs a belt. No, I won’t stop saying it.

      • kimmeister

There you go, echoing my sentiments again!

        • demidaemon

Well, I wrote both of these before I saw what you wrote! ;)

Seriously, though, we are on a major ESP similar wavelength today.

      • Thomas

Was gonna say the same thing!

      • ktr33

Me too! My father always insisted, and it’s stuck with me always.

      • Kent Roby

If he weren’t so young and fit, the lack of belt would read as Sansabelt slacks (appropriately).

    • juniper

      huzzah!

    • traceyishere

Belt? Perhaps it does need one, but this minimal look is fresh. Perhaps he has clip-on suspenders under there.

      • ktr33

I said same! A lesson my father instilled in me. Unless those are like sansabelt slacks!

    • Dany

Oh look, it’s the clean, washed, non creepy Franco. Really, James, you’re not artsy, you just look like a douche when your brother consistently shows up looking like he does in posts like this.

    • FibonacciSequins

Brown shoes and maybe unbutton that top button. That suit fits like a dream.

      • smayper

I thought that about the top button too.

      • TAGinMO

It’s to his credit that the top button wasn’t the first thing I noticed. Clearly everything else is working like gangbusters here.

    • Sophia Finfer

I wanna kiss him on the mouth.

    • MilaXX

Lower case werq. A lighter shoe would have been better, but this is a really nice look.

      • Shawn EH

Even a canvas oxford, I think, as long as they were nice.

    • ktr33

Prettty cute! I’m not quite with the top button buttoned here, but s’ok. I just wish he’d worn a belt. My dad, who was very stylish and a little quirky, had a very strict rule: if a pants has belt loops, there must. be. a. belt.

    • macwell

I was going to say that a light brown or cognac colored shoe would have made this 100% perfect, but…I guess he has to show he’s straight in some sort of way, cause ya’ll know if this were thay Boomer g(a)uy – je wpuld have been 100%….LOL! ;)

    • marlie

Nice job! I really like the suit, and the shoes don’t bother me at all.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

The more I see of this kid, the more I like him. He looks good.

    • hillmad

What a palate cleanser he is compared to his brother!

    • shopgirl716

      Cutie patootie. Who is he?

    • e jerry powell

And the thigh gap is not Photoshopped.

    • lunchcoma

Looks like someone got all the fashion sense and all the hygiene skills in the family.

Don’t worry James. I’m sure he’s not nearly as skilled in the art of the bathroom selfie.

    • t bell

Can’t say that I really know who he is but he’s cute as hell and nicely dressed. Don’t want to sound slutty but he would probably look good without clothes, Yes, I know wrong site for that sort of thing.

      • AdamBR

He’s James Franco’s younger brother. Search CollegeHumor. He did a couple of videos for the site that may or may not vindicate your second sentence.

      • fursa_saida

Not the wrong site for that sort of thing! Swing by on Sausage Friday, it’s all over the comments.

    • LadyVimes

Do boystars not wear belts anymore? Are they no longer a suit necessity?

    • crash1212

I am close to weeping with appreciation of the perfection. I was getting SO sick of seeing rumpled, ill fitting, ugly ass suits on these boys. This is very refreshing. Nicely done.

    • kim bunchalastnames

      plus, nice fit.

    • CatLady

Now that is a cute boystar!

    • Alyssa

Love the shirt, love the suit, love the smile!

    • mjude

he’s very cute but all I can think is “sansa belt”

    • lobsterlen

      Working it like Willis!

    • gsk241

      WITFU!

    • MannahattaMamma

Does he have the misfortune of being related to James Franco? I assume so, given the last name & eyebrows. In which case I hope that he’s avoided the douchey genes. But maybe that kind of behavior is acquired, not innate. Ah, nature versus nurture. The eternal question. But also: nice suit and I love love that shirt.

    • Kate Andrews

Very handsome. Cuter than his bro!

    • Shawn EH

Love this. Great, flattering, coordinated and confident look!

    • BlairBear

I love Dave Franco he is what his brother wants to be

    • Jacob Bowen

Thank you for the polka dots!!!

    • formerlyAnon

Like the shirt better than the suit, which looks a tad snug (or is that really the look?) and is in a color towards which I hold great and irrational prejudice.

In a summer suit I’m partial to a properly fitted seersucker in a pale blue or green. Despite the fact that rumpled, ill-fitting seersucker was movie shorthand for “slob” and often “corrupt” during most of my youth. (Linen is nice in theory, but no one can look unrumpled in linen in practice. No one I’ve met, anyway.)

    • Jacqueline Wessel

He’s cute and well-groomed so, yes, huzzahs all around. (Are those Sans-a-belt pants? Are those still around?)

      • housefulofboys

Sans-a-belt pants! That was the first thing I saw, too, remembering my dad wearing them decades ago. Can’t say I’m a real fan of them.

    • Sonia Perez

So dang cute! I want to put him in my pocket!
