Most of the cast of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale came out in glittering high style for the London premiere. It’s always fun to see how hard some of these folks work to remind you that they’re not the characters they’re most associated with.
Joely Richardson
Very elegant and tasteful. The color looks gorgeous on her.
Michael C. Fox
Borrowing a bit from the Josh O’Connor Book of Style.
Penelope Wilton
Simple and unfussy, but photogenic and stylish.
Jim Carter
Acceptable, with a nicely unexpected choice of colors.
Dominic West
We appreciate that he really tried to do something here, but whatever he’s trying to do, it’s not really working for him. The proportions are weird and the style doesn’t suit him.
Sophie McShera in Huishan Zhang
Very pretty.
Raquel Cassidy
We get the urge to go full glam after years of playing a ladies maid, but this is harsh and unflattering.
Robert James-Collier
Looks like a concierge. This is why we don’t like black dress pants with sports coats or blazers. It always gives the whiff of uniform.
Michelle Dockery in Prada
It’s a lovely gown, but that shade of blue doesn’t flatter her.
Allen Leech
We barely recognized him. He looks great, although we’re not convinced those boots work with the suit.
Phyllis Logan
This is a lot of fun. We don’t think the red accessories necessarily go, but they’re cute.
Douglas Reith
A classic look, well rendered. But he needs to hem his pants.
Joanne Froggatt in Cong Tri
It’s striking, and as Cong Tri designs go, it’s relatively un-tacky, but we dislike how distorting the design is.
Arty Froushan
Spectacular retro menswear style. We’d love to see more of this on red carpets.
Laura Carmichael in Harris Reed
We love that she chose something so dramatic and sculptural, but we’re afraid we find the overall design kind of ugly.
