It’s a busy week of big hats and carriage rides for this princess! After stepping out for the Trooping the Colour ceremony yesterday, Princess Cathy put an an old frock and stepped out again for the Order of the Garter service.
She wore the same dress at the VE-Day Memorial Concert last month and we’re afraid we’re going to have to change or minds on that lace hem. It looks too precious and overwrought paired with pleats and boucle. On the other hand, we much prefer when she wears these sorts of wide-brimmed hats over those sometimes overwrought Treacy fascinators. She’s very much in her beige pumps era, but frankly, they look dumb with an all-white outfit. Princess Alexandra of Kent’s jaunty little topper is pretty cute, although it doesn’t really coordinate that well with her dress. The Duchess of Edinburgh has never been a fashion plate, but she’s stepped up her game a bit as her role has enlarged. Her dress is nice, but that draped sash is pretty mumsy.
