It may surprise you to hear that we don’t hate Florence Pugh’s dress for the Governors Awards, even though it has a lot of elements we spend our days railing against in a manner some might call pathetic but we prefer to think of as passionate. Anyway, that’s neither here nor there. You know what else is neither here nor there? Florence Pugh’s dress at the Governors Awards.
In other words, it’s all over the place. And while we hate fringe, cutouts and sheer dresses as a rule, we have to admit that this one combines all of those elements in unexpected if not intriguing ways. There’s also the point that the dress tends to really suit her and it feels like a slightly more interesting version of the super-showy, sometimes tacky dresses she favors. And the final argument in its favor: she looks amazing in it. As for all the arguments against the dress, well, we would have thought them obvious. They come down to the same argument: it’s an ugly dress. An ugly dress that’s perfect for Florence Pugh and makes her look super-hot. Therein lies the dilemma put forth to you today. Run with it:
