Taylor Swift came out of the fairy woods long enough to perform at the Grammys for the first time in five years, hang out with some artists, and pick up another trophy.
We love this, to our slight surprise. We might not have responded so favorably if this dress found the wrong wearer, but this not only looks great on her, it feels like a very on-point form of branding for this part of her career; all folksy whimsy and grownup romance. The low-key styling feels very deliberate – again, in keeping with her current image, which has celebrated her songwriter side over her former pop princess persona. If this were someone else trying to make a different point about herself (For instance, in the “I’m an upcoming ingenue” or “I’m perfect for rom-com work” manner), we might have suggested more zhuzhed hair, a stronger beat on the face and some showier jewelry, but this is all feeling very “wood nymph” in tone, which seems just right. The only aspect that doesn’t quite jibe with the rest of the vibe are the shoes, which are seriously cute and a bit more in that classic pop princess mode.
