We’re glad Miss Lana got a chance to hit a semi-for-real red carpet while making her “To All the Boys” victory lap. She’s clearly a gal who enjoys fashion and with the highly successful film series wrapping up, she deserves the kind of spotlight time any successful ingenue could expect in more normal times. And we think she must have decided to really take advantage of the setting to break out a little bit of … challenging fashion.

The basic style of dress isn’t entirely to our tastes – we’re not always fans of feather trim, despite having written a book about drag. And while we’re usually not in love with the see-through frocks, we think the lining situation here – from the color to where it stops and starts – is unfortunate. Line the whole thing in a white or a silver, not in a “nude” that just looks like shapewear. And speaking of shapewear, we’ve clearly avoided the main topic here for as long as possible: that clear plastic…corset? We guess we’d call it? On the one hand, it’s giving her a fantastic hourglass shape. On the other hand, it looks like some sort of futuristic medical brace. On yet another hand, it’s hideous and ruins the dress. We have spoken.
