Is now the time for a new version of Carrie Bradshaw? We guess we’ll find out on October 2nd, because that’s when Sex and the City creator Darren Star’s new series Emily in Paris debuts on Netflix. And if you think we’re making a facile comparison to his earlier work, we invite you to view the very Carrie-esque trailer:
Lily Collins stars as Emily, an ambitious twenty-something marketing executive from Chicago, unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. Emily’s new life in Paris is filled with intoxicating adventures and surprising challenges as she juggles winning over her work colleagues, making friends, and navigating new romances.
The 10 episode romantic comedy series created, written and executive produced by Darren Star (Younger, Sex & The City) starring Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply, To the Bone) is set to debut on October 2, 2020.
Why they didn’t just call it Text and the City eludes us. It was right there, Darren. We’re being bitches because it’s in our nature, but even if this may not be what we’re looking for at the moment, there’s always an audience for the classic tale of a young woman in the big city wearing expensive clothes and having a lot of sex. Could be fun. If nothing else, with Sex and the City Costume designer Patricia Field on board as a constultant, you know the fashion will be worth looking at:
