Miss Allison’s got another Creepy White Girl movie coming out which means, because she’s a pro at promotion and she loves fashion, she’s out here on these streets serving up as much promo style as the world can handle. And for some reason, she’s really feeling brown at the moment.
Allison Williams in Ralph Lauren at BUILD Series
This is such a “Jackie Onassis heading to her editor job” kind of look that we’re duty-bound to love it. The beige is a lot to handle and the fit across the front is a bit snug, but it’s a surprisingly strong look to which she’s incredibly well-suited.
Allison Williams in Hermès at BUILD Series
She looks amazing here – and we don’t tend to love brown for promotional fashion. It’s among the least photogenic colors you can choose. But this is rich brown rendering and the details of the design – especially the neckline and the pleating in the skirt – give it a richness and sophistication that her looks beg for. Her makeup and hair look great. And no one asked us (okay, a few folks have over the years), but we always thought halters looked best on square shoulders. Could’ve done without the belly cutout, though.
In Emilia Wickstead and Max Mara at “Good Mornin America”
It’s her “American Cathy Cambridge” drag. Can’t say it doesn’t suit her, but the beige pumps and white coat are washing her out just a bit.
Who could’ve predicted that her post-Girls career would situate her as a high-end scream queen? We’ve got to respect that. She’s leaning into her looks and persona in a way that’s twisted and unexpected.
