Suddenly, it seems like the stars are in a leather-wearing moment. It feels like we’ve covered more leather shirts, pants, skirts and dresses in the last month or so than in the last couple of years. It’d be fun if someone opted to show up to the Oscars in a leather suit or dress, but we suspect the trend hasn’t gone that far yet. For now, Hamnet star Jessie Buckley, fresh off her BAFTAs and Actor Awards wins, came to the Tonight Show working the trend, and we think she landed on just about the perfect dress for her:

It’s sexy, slightly askew, and it has very little fuss to it. It’s perfect for her. Despite our constant complaining about seeing black pumps everywhere, we’re not opposed to them when they’re paired with the right outfit. And while some might look at this dress and think that a pair of kickass boots make the perfect accompaniment, we would not agree. Those patent leather stilettos are perfect. We also like that she didn’t wear sheer tights with this dress, even though they’re trendy and the look would seem to call for them. But again, we like that the styling is so basic and low-key. It suits her personality and the dress doesn’t need the help.
