The stars came out to serve eye-popping looks at the London premiere of Wuthering Heights, but you need to prepare yourself for Margot Robbie’s before you scroll down.

We told you! Did we not tell you? We probably would have worked out at first glance that this dress was some sort of homage to Victorian mourning jewelry made out of the deceased’s hair. We once knew an elderly gay couple who lived in a mansion and they collected the stuff. But Margot and her stylist Andrew Mukamal aren’t subtle sorts (CLEARLY) so the connection was made literal. As Vogue reported:

“For the London premiere, Robbie wore a replica of a bracelet once made of the writer’s own hair. A piece of Victorian mourning jewelry, the original piece was owned by Brontë’s sister, Charlotte, and made from Emily and Anne Brontë’s hair. Haworth-based Wyedean Weaving fashioned a replica of the 175-year-old bracelet.”

We’re pretty sure the dress is not made of human hair, but who knows with these two? They’re very good at using fashion to create these viral moments, and we have no doubt it’s helping to sell tickets, but we find it all kind of… we don’t know… mercenary? Which is fine, this is a marketing event, after all. But her sense of style feels kind of soul-less to us at this point. No self-expression, just stunting to get clicks and tickets. In related news, this dress is hideous.

This, on the other hand, is absolutely gorgeous. Yes, we’d have liked a contrasting shirt, but we’re just happy to see he chose the contrasting tie. Don’t like that white lining at all.

Don’t like it. Don’t see how it’s flattering. Love her, and she clearly loves Thom Browne, whose aesthetic is well suited to her. We just think this looks sloppy, with weird proportions.

She refuses to do the “I’m just the director” style and we kind of love her for that. The dress is pretty great, although we don’t love the shape of the sleeves or the shoulders. The color looks amazing on her but let’s fact it: the necklace is the entire look.

Pretty, but wildly overdesigned. Get rid of the lace, the horizontal straps and the bottom two bows. We’d rather get rid of all of the bows, but then it wouldn’t be recognizably Miu Miu.

We really appreciate his commitment to high fashion paired with his refusal to sport conventional menswear on this tour. Having said that, the coat is just awful. It’s huge and shapeless and dominates the whole look. It just doesn’t look formal enough for a red carpet full of gowns.

Cute and appropriate. The bag is very sweet.

Can’t fault her for lack of drama. Sure, maybe she’s taking the whole dark romance vibe in too-literal a direction, and maybe she’s being a little grandiose about a film in which she’s not the star, but we kind of love this — the idea of it, anyway. The more we look at the dress design, the less we like it, but she gets points for bringing the drama.
