Line up, gentlemen! The guystars at the Critics Choice Awards were pretty much on their best style behavior, with some of them working the classic tux and some of them having a little fun with their formalwear. Let’s assess. And by that we mean let’s be total bitches about it.
Adam Scott in Dolce & Gabbana

Pretty much flawless, we’d say.
Alexander Skarsgård in Valentino

We peered at this one because we just knew there was some little goofy detail that wasn’t obvious at first glance. He’s wearing bows on his wrists.
Brian Tyree Henry

This man really knows how to wear a lot of jewelry and not look overwhelmed by it.
Charlie Hunnam in Balenciaga

Sleazy Chic really works for him. His shoes look like they’re at least a couple sizes too large, however.
Chris Perfetti

It is impossible for us not to love a velvet polka dot tuxedo. IMPOSSIBLE.
Diego Luna

We might have been a little intrigued by the suit if he’d worn a shirt with buttons. That stretched out t-shirt is doing nothing for the look.
Ethan Hawke in Bode

We love it, but more as a form of self-expression than as something fabulous. We’ll take this over an accountant’s suit on the red carpet any day of the week.
François Arnaud

It doesn’t really pop in the picture, but we love that shirt and tie combo. The grooming here is impeccable.
Jeff Goldblum

Can’t argue with that.
Joel Edgerton in Louis Vuitton

Or that.
Lee Byung-hun

LOVE the brooch. We don’t see enough vests on the red carpet.
Leo Woodall in Paul Smith

Works for us.
Matthew Rhys

Some people don’t like a black and dark blue color combo. It never bothered us, but we don’t think it works with a tuxedo.
Miles Caton in Louis Vuitton

Nicely done.
Noah Schnapp in John Varvatos

Looks great, but we can’t help thinking he came dressed as the Netflix logo. Why does he still have that bowl cut?
Owen Cooper in Bottega Veneta

We don’t mind if a kid takes a less formal approach to the red carpet, but these are some dreary-looking pieces.
Patrick Ball

Clearly too small on him.
Paul Mescal in Gucci

That v-neck looks awful with a tux.
Seth Rogen in Zegna

This is fairly low-effort for him. It’s fine, but he looks uncharacteristically sloppy.
Stellan Skarsgård

A gorgeous suit. He should have done up at least one more button on the shirt.
Sterling K. Brown in Brunello Cucinelli

Love all of this. He looks great in a shawl collar.
Tramell Tillman in Anamika Khanna

Love the jacket, but we would have styled this a bit differently. We’d have given him a shirt and some colorful suede loafers.
Tyler James Williams

We’ll have to walk back our earlier comment, because this black-and-blue tux combo absolutely works.
