Marty Supreme star Timothee Chalamet kicked off his Oscar campaign at the world premiere, with girlfriend Kylie Jenner at his side. As previews go, this one seems fairly definitive. This campaign is going to be very loud and a little tacky.

We can hear cries of outrage gathering as we type, but to be honest, we kind of love what he’s wearing. Granted, it’s a little hard to see, what with her hanging all over him in every shot. We dislike overly showy affection displays on the red carpet because there’s something so oddly and embarrassingly attention-seeking about it. You’re in front of a wall of cameras and your first impulse is to star pawing at each other like a couple of kids in a backseat on prom night? Tacky. But perhaps not as tacky as her dress. As for him, we think the suit is really fun and the boots ensure that he doesn’t have to worry about getting his pants hemmed. The bag is really cute. We’re really okay with this. We want male stars to express themselves and put some effort into their outfits. He’s done that. It doesn’t all have to be impeccable suiting or respectable tuxes.
