Those HUNTR/X ladies have been absolutely crushing it on the red carpet since K Pop Demon Hunters premiered and their looks at the Grammys were the best efforts yet.

Rei Ami, EJAE, and Audrey Nuna came in looks that were distinct to each of them, yet despite the wild swings in style and tone, they still felt like a cohesive trio somehow. It might have something do with the fact that each of them talked to the Associated Press about the meaning behind their outfit choices.
Audrey Nuna in Thom Brown

This is gorgeously odd and might be one of our favorite unconventional Thom Browne looks in ages. For Audrey, it had a deeper meaning. “This brand means a lot to me because my grandpa immigrated here in the ’70s. Our way of surviving as a family was clothing manufacturing and one of the first client orders I remember as a kid seeing when I’d go to my dad’s factory on weekends was Thom Browne so these silhouettes are something that means something to my childhood. I feel like I’m bringing my family—I’m getting emotional—I feel like I’m bringing my family with me on this red carpet. I’m so grateful to Thom Browne. Just shout-out to anyone who has ever felt outcasted because they come from a different place. I’m just really proud to represent my family.”
EJAE in Dior

This is the most conventional of the three looks by far, and the color look stunning on her. As she explained, “it’s very Asian influence, a fusion. I’m Korean-American. I’m a fusion of both, and that’s who I am.” Love that neckline, with the gold brooch. We might have liked a more unified all-gold jewelry approach. The lace panel is interesting and we have no objection to it even though we think lace is overused.
Rei Ami in Guvanch

We tend to hate fringey, deconstructed dresses, but this is just gorgeous fantasy fashion. We will never get mad at a gown that comes with a headpiece. Rei explained: “I wanted to incorporate parts of my culture and heritage and also KPop Demon Hunters into what I’m wearing,” she continued. “And we’re also playing with duality with the airy feathers and the roughness of the leather and the back. The flower is the mugunghwa or the hibiscus flower and then we’ve got custom metal work done to again [represent] rebirth. [This is a] very transformative time period for all of us as artists and human beings especially with this entire journey so just wanted to pay a little respect.” You just can’t argue with style that comes from a place like that. We wish more stars developed a deeper relationship with fashion, as artists.

Can’t wait to see what they wear to the Oscars.
