Queen Max continued her tour of Suriname with King Willem-Alexander and we can see that it’s trips like these where her style preferences really get to shine. She’s a queen who loves herself some bold colors and bright prints, so she’s kind of in her glory at the moment.
IN ZIMMERMANN AT THE FREDERIKSDORP PLANTATION

We once took Princess Catherine to task for dressing in this style during a royal tour of the Caribbean, largely because she never dresses this way at home and it tended to give the impression that she was a tourist on holiday rather than engaging in official visit. But Max actually does dress this way at home, so it doesn’t have that colonialist undertone to it. It’s a cute dress and they look kind of adorable together. As per the uzh, it fails on the accessorizing. The sandals and shades are great, but the bag and the earrings simply don’t go.
IN JANTAMINIAU ATTENDING A PERFORMANCE AT THE THALIA THEATER

Nailed it. The prints are gorgeous and for once, the jewelry is really well-chosen for it. She’s perfectly suited to this style and her hair looks great.
