We’ve milked the 2025 LACMA Art + Film Gala red carpet for enough content, wouldn’t you say? Time to put this one to bed. Put your judging pants on. We’ve got a lot of ground to cover.
Ariana Greenblatt in Alexander McQueen

Probably one of the better sheer skirts we’ve seen lately, but that neckline looks like it’s choking her.
Ashley Park in Gucci

We’re not crazy about oversized peplums or lavender, but we have to admit, this looks pretty great on her.
Benito Skinner

We like how it plays with proportions, but ultimately, those pants are just too wide, both for the jacket and for the shoes.
Billie Lourd in Gucci

She looks great, but it comes down to styling and jewelry because the dress is a big nothing.
Charlie Hunnam in Gucci

Just as we’ve been loudly championing the return of leisure suits, we won’t complain if 1972 Hollywood sleazy style a la Warren Beatty comes flying back to red carpets. He looks fantastic.
Chris Perfetti

Perfectly fine.
Christine Centenera and Joel Edgerton

Love his suit, not as in love with that massive wrap she’s sporting. She kind of looks like a hard boiled egg.
Cristin Milioti in Saint Laurent

Generic.
Damson Idris

Lovely. Impeccable fit, great use of color and jewelry.
Demi Lovato in Salih Balta

She looks good, and it’s a lovely skirt, but style-wise it feels like she’s sanded away all her edges.
Doja Cat in Gucci

Gorgeous gown, nutty wig, wrong shoe.
Eboni Nichols and Queen Latifah

We tend to hate a sheer gown over a short dress, but Eboni’s version is kind of pretty. That low-sparkle pewter looks great on her. If Queen Latifah is entering her caftan era, we’re all for it, because she looks great.
Emma Roberts in Gucci

It’s a cute dress, but this doesn’t feel like her style. The makeup looks off — and heavy.
Hannah Einbinder in Valentino

Okay, so it feels like a lot of the more interesting ladystars have been going for very conventional sorts of looks and we want to tell all of them to stop it. This is not the time to conform. It’s a gorgeous dress, but it doesn’t suit her. It feels like the patterned tights and focus-pulling shoe were meant to lend it some quirk, but they don’t really go.
Kathryn Hahn in Lanvin

She’s been on a roll lately. Kathryn, we don’t know if you’re reading this, but you have two lanes that suit you best in the style arena: Witchy and 1970s. It feels like you’ve learned this lesson recently. We applaud this turn, but that wrap is a little dumb.
Kerry Condon in Fendi

We love the color and the seaming, but dear God do we hate the lace and the spaghetti straps.
Kristen Wiig in Rodarte

Meh.
Miles Caton

Very cute and stylish. We’re not mad at the kicks, but that’s a pretty sweet suit that could have benefitted from a more stylish shoe choice.
Ryan Destiny in Cult Gaia

It has a beautiful drape to it and the gold touches make the look.
Salma Hayek in Gucci

We almost put this one up to a vote, just because the color is so challenging and likely to provoke opinions. But you know what? Everyone’s been dressing for a funeral lately, so all we can do is applaud anyone who wants to sport a bold color. She looks great, but the bag is kind of meh.
Samara Weaving

Love the style, hate the color, but as we said, we have to salute anyone who’s going for a look-at-me shade instead of dressing like a depressed person.
Troye Sivan in Prada

He’s like the male Elle Fanning. Sure, it’s probably boring for him to dress like a waif all the time, but like her, he knows it’s where his style sweet spot lies. We love this on him, but we’d hate it on almost anyone else. The collar situation is hilariously pretentious, but perfectly suits him.
Tyriq Withers

Just gorgeous. The suit is nice too. We would have preferred brown shoes and an oxblood tie.
Zoey Deutch in Donna Karan

Girl. a cuff isn’t going to turn that sheet into a dress.
