LACMA Art + Film Gala 2025: Demi Moore in Gucci

Forming parasocial relationships with celebrities is an unavoidable side effect of our jobs, no matter how cynical we like to think we are. So when Demi Moore lost the Oscar for her role in The Substance last year, we felt pretty bad for the long-time star. She’d never enjoyed all that much critical acclaim in her career and it was obvious that the accolades were doing wonders for her self esteem. If you’d asked us what her style would be like going forward, we would have predicted that she’d retreat to form and go back to the slinky/severe gowns she’s tended to prefer for many decades now. We’re happy to report that, while her gown for the LACMA Art + Film Gala is as slinky and sexy as you’d come to expect from her, it’s also bright and colorful and sparkly in a way that feels new.

Just gorgeous. A point we’ll repeat until we’re blue in the face (which is a really morbid saying, come to think of it): Sheer gowns are perfectly fine, so long as they give us something interesting to look at. If it’s just a method to legally walk around in public in your underwear, we can’t possibly be less interested.
