Cynthia Erivo said “All eyes on me, please.” The star of the upcoming Wicked: For Good has not yet opted to return to her Elphaba cosplay ways leading up to the no-doubt exhaustive and exhausting promotional tour. Instead, she came to the LACMA Art + Film Gala, usually seen as one of the opening salvos in awards campaigning season in a boldly unusual Schiaparelli without any witchy vibes.

Still kind of creepy, though. We wonder if this film will have her working a different aesthetic from the strict black-and-green one she sported for an entire year the last time. Whatever the case, this is dramatic and gorgeous in a way that only she could pull off. We can’t say we’re loving the tulle wings, but we credit her for showing up anywhere dressed like a biblically accurate member of the heavenly host, so maybe she’s ditching the witchwear for more of an angelic vibe.
