Train Dreams star Joel Edgerton put on a big beige suit and headed off to Late Night. Surprisingly, we don’t hate it.

We’ve always appreciated not only that he’s an adventurous dresser, but that he manages to choose interesting looks that have a traditionally masculine feel to them. Obviously, these two queens will never complain when any guy – especially a straight guy – wants to work a little foppery or dandyism, but we think a lot of straight guys avoid thinking about fashion because they’re constantly told that, in order to be fashionable, they should dress like a gay man — or like the stereotype of gay man they have in their head. Not every guy wants to wear skinny pants or pink or whimsical socks and that’s fine. But too many of them default to dressing like an accountant or like they’re on a Home Depot run and that’s sad. There are fun ways to interpret menswear or to wear it with some flair while still maintaining your dude status. Is this the way? Probably not; not for most guys. But like we said, we appreciate that this sort of masculine stylishness is something he likes to explore.
