Weapons star Amy Madigan picked up a trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role at the Actor Awards while she continued to defy the conventional wisdom as to how an Oscar-nominated actress is supposed to dress. We love how much she’s been playing with suits throughout awards season, but we have to say we may have reached the limits of our playfulness with this one.

Sorry, but that just looks dumb. Designers and stylists always want to find some way to make a woman’s suit come off more like a gown at these events, adding bows and flounces where they’re not needed or piling on some sort of odd take on a necktie or, in this case, a scarf. No one wears a scarf like that. There’s no reason to wear a scarf like that. Given her no-nonsense persona, we can’t imagine that she wasn’t totally annoyed by that thing all night. Just let her wear the suit. It looks great on her. Love that pin closure.
