PinZynnia Restaurant – Ontario, Canada

Oh, this will do nicely for today, don’t you think? It’s MONDAY and Lorenzo’s feeling like a fun, poppy sort of bunker in which to spend the day avoiding the world. We have a TON of high-end red carpetry for you today, as various balls, festivals and galas all dropped at the same time over the weekend. We also intend to have a podcast if the construction next door doesn’t screw up our day. Settle in for lots of distractions, darlings.

The 81 Best Spooky Movies to Watch for Halloween
One of the best things about Halloween month (what all mature adults call October) is the fact that it coincides with the official start of Cozy Season: When the leaves start to fall and Rite Aid rolls out the ghost and skeleton costumes, there’s nothing better than curling up in a blanket or 12, sipping a seasonal beverage—Pumking ale, anyone?—and freaking the living hell out of yourself with a horror movie.
To celebrate all things Halloween-adjacent, we’ve put together a master list of the very best spooky movies to watch in the coming weeks.

52 autumn movies that are perfect to cosy up with
Ready for snuggle season.

Autumn movies are perfect for when you want to cosy up with a cup of tea and forget about your real-life distractions for a good two hours.
The season is traditionally when some of the best movies of the year come to theatres. After the studios make their money with summer blockbusters, they roll out their awards contenders during the rest of the year, which are sure to keep us occupied. But there are only so many new movies to watch, and we wanna keep that golden-leaf energy every day!

I Tried Hair Filler for Faster, Smoother Styling—and It Exceeded Every Expectation
Everything you need to know

My relationship with my hair has come on leaps and bounds over the last few years. After spending the entirety of my teens and much of my twenties frying it with hair straighteners, my thirties has been a decade of hair acceptance. Sure, my hair’s natural texture (a thick mass of waves, curls and straight sections) means that it will always be prone to frizz and dryness, but with a new love of air dry creams, I’ve come to quite like my hair’s natural texture.
However, I’ve reached this point where I’ve largely lost faith in hair treatments, due to years being disappointed by empty promises that they will smooth, de-puff and rid hair of frizz, only to find that my hair is either left exactly as it was before, or else completely devoid of my natural texture.

Blush Stacking Explained: How to Layer Blush for a Natural, Sculpted Look
Feel the flush

If TikTok has taught us anything, it’s that beauty is in a permanent state of experimentation. The latest trick doing the rounds? Blush stacking. In other words, layering multiple blushes—different shades, textures and finishes—to create dimension and staying power. Think of it as contouring’s more playful, rosier sibling. But is it actually wearable in real life, or just another case of ‘blush blindness’—where we’ve been staring at flushed cheeks for too long and lost perspective?

Always Hungry or Noticing Energy Crashes? You Might Be Eating Too Much Hidden Sugar – 7 Tell-Tale Signs
Sugar can definitely be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet – but consume too much, and there are some clear health implications.

It’s fair to say that sugar has received a bad rep over the years. If it’s not personal trainer Joe Wicks waging a war against ultra-processed foods (which are typically high in sugar) via his new show Licensed to Kill, it’s large-scale studies (like this 2024 one) highlighting how drinking sweetened beverages raises your risk of stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. But how much of the sweet stuff is too much? And what are the signs you could be eating too much sugar?

The Danish are Masters of Cosy Autumnal Wellbeing – 7 Simple Hygge Lifestyle Hacks for the Colder Months
Lean into a hygge lifestyle this season.

It’s a simple fact of life that no one does wellbeing quite like the Danes. They’ve gifted us a myriad of cosy rituals that are so perfect for shorter days, we’re considering quitting our jobs just to make sure we have time for them all (joking, but still).
Denmark is consistently ranked as one of the happiest countries in the world, coming second in The University of Oxford’s 2025 World Happiness Report, despite being plunged into darkness for much of the year. While many of us in the UK can feel anxious about the nights drawing in, the Danes lean into this season. Averaging just six hours of light per day in winter, there’s plenty of scope for hunkering down at home.
And there’s certainly something to be said for embracing a slower pace of life at this time of year: take your cues from Mother Nature. The leaves are falling, ready for growth to slow, while animals are nesting and hibernating all around.

‘Lazarus’: The British Psychological Thriller Based On A ‘Mind-Bending’ Mystery Is Out This Week
The ‘Fool Me Once’ creator’s newest series arrives just as autumn settles in, making it the perfect time for a thriller with supernatural undertones.

Harlan Coben is back with his most ambitious project yet — and this time, he’s venturing into supernatural territory. The mastermind behind Netflix’s Fool Me Once and Stay Close is bringing Lazarus to Prime this week, marking his first original series not based on one of his bestselling novels. With a stellar cast led by Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, this psychological thriller promises to be the streaming event of this autumn.
For Coben devotees who’ve devoured every twist-filled episode of his previous adaptations, Lazarus represents something entirely new. The author revealed to Radio Times that he envisioned this story specifically for television rather than the page, describing it as ‘a little more of a ghost story, very visual.’ It’s a departure from his usual formula, blending psychological horror with the trademark mystery-solving that’s made his previous Netflix creations some of the most-watched shows on the platform. This is everything you need to know about his latest creation.

Why are my lips so dry? 7 common causes and how to avoid them
Because it’s chapped lips season.

If you’re wondering: why are my lips so dry you’re very much not the only one. Google has seen a breakout in searches for “lips constantly dry” throughout January – proof that dry Jan isn’t just targeting our alcohol intake.
It’s no surprise, in winter our lips seem to have a mind of their own and switch from super smooth to dry and cracked in what seems like hours. But, it’s worth knowing there are a few key causes of dry lips – as well as a couple of bad habits that exacerbate them, which the majority of us are guilty of doing on a daily basis.

Happy Diwali 2025! Wishes, greetings and dates for the festival of light
May the glow of the diyas fill your life with warmth.

This week is Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights. But what is the festival celebrating, what are the Diwali 2025 dates and how can you wish someone a Happy Diwali?
Often considered the most important holiday in Hindism, Jainism and Sikhism, Diwali is celebrated with traditional rituals that include prayer, feasting and firework displays.
Diwali is also known as dipavali, which translates to mean “rows of lighted lamps” — one of the most recognisable traditions of the festival is the display of small lighted oil lamps called ‘diyas.’

Frankenstein Features This Year’s Most Ravishing Costumes
Legendary costumer Kate Hawley is no stranger to outfitting bombastic blockbusters. Over the past two decades, she’s worked on everything from Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim to Suicide Squad, with a smattering of exquisite period pieces thrown in for good measure, too (notably, del Toro’s sumptuous Crimson Peak and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, for which she was nominated for an Emmy). Now, she’s reunited with the beloved Mexican auteur for what is surely her most ambitious and jaw-droppingly stunning project to date: Frankenstein, an operatic retelling of Mary Shelley’s Gothic classic.

How “I Want My MTV” Saved the Network From an Early Grave
Tom Freston helped birth MTV and reinvent television. In an excerpt from his new memoir, Unplugged: Adventures From MTV to Timbuktu, he recalls the Hail Mary marketing spots that saved the network.

By the summer of 1982, MTV was in desperate straits. We were still big in Oklahoma, but few other cable companies were adding MTV to their lineups. In American business, if you ain’t growing, you’re dying. We were in danger of being shut down if we couldn’t convince more cable guys to carry us before the money ran out.
Enter George Lois and Dale Pon, a wild-eyed, smiling but scary-looking dude whose specialty was “media promotion,” which involved banging people over the head repeatedly with a simple idea, such as: “Love songs, nothing but love songs. WPIX FM.” Years earlier, Lois had overseen an ad campaign for an oatmeal brand that enlisted Mickey Mantle and Wilt Chamberlain to cry on camera and whine, “I want my Maypo!” It was ironic, it was satiric, it was bold, it was ridiculous. It was advertising that became more famous than the product.

Louvre Robbery: How Thieves Carried Out An Audacious Heist of ‘Priceless’ Napoleonic Jewels
It took only a few minutes for thieves to execute a brazen daylight heist at the famed Louvre Museum in Paris on Sunday morning, coming away with jewels of “inestimable value” that had once belonged to Napoleon and his empresses.
The Louvre, which is the world’s most visited museum with 8.7 million visitors in 2024 alone, was closed for the day as police investigated how the robbers were able to carry out the most high-profile theft in modern French history.
“The theft committed at the Louvre is an attack on a heritage that we cherish because it is our History,” President Emmanuel Macron said on X. “We will recover the works, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice.”

‘Vanilla Glass Nails’ Are Destined to Be on Everyone’s Fall Mood Boards
These is not your average white manicure.

While summer saw the rise of sheer, dewy manicures such as rosewater nails, autumn is leaning into creamier polishes that still manage to look translucent. Enter “vanilla glass nails,” which hit just the right note for anyone craving a seasonal nail upgrade in cosy neutral shades.
So what exactly are “vanilla glass nails?” Put simply, they share the same DNA as two other barely-there manicures: nude-toned BB cream nails, with their characteristic sheer glaze, and semi-opaque milk bath nails.

Lynn Loves Jewelry: Dazzling Creations for Hollywood Legends Then and Now
Oh, the Golden Age of Hollywood! Not just celebrated with gold of course, but with diamonds and platinum and precious stones! With Vogue World: Hollywood, the extravaganza in LA on October 26 fast approaching, what better time to take a look at legends of the silver screen and the jewels they have inspired?
In the very earliest days of the industry, actresses wore their own jewelry. When the hatcheck girl in Night After Night (a really fun forgotten movie, Google it!) says to Mae West, “Goodness, what beautiful diamonds!” and West replies, “Goodness had nothing to do with it,” she is flaunting her own dazzling bracelets.

This Ionian Island Is the Next Big Thing in Greece
The green island of Zakynthos, or Zante in Italian, is the third-largest in the Ionian off mainland Greece’s western coast. Santorini’s whitewashed buildings and blue-domed churches may be the postcard vision of the Greek islands, but Zakynthos embodies an identity all its own. The island’s colorful past of rulers—including the Byzantines, Ottomans, French, English, and Venetians—left their mark in the form of neoclassical and pastel-hued buildings, as well as the landmark hilltop Venetian castle, where the old acropolis, Psofis, once stood.

The Top 25 Kitchen Appliance and Gear Trends That Defined the Past 25 Years
From spiralizers and slow cookers to juicers and pizza ovens, these are the gadgets that defined 25 years of kitchen innovation.

The 25 tools and appliances listed here speak to the way we cooked, sipped, and snacked over the last quarter century. Some reflected health fads (hello, zoodles), while others spoke to a moment in history (looking at you, lockdown baking). Many have withstood the test of time on kitchen counters (long live SodaStream).
In the early 2000s, centrifugal juicers allowed us to embrace kale and down green juice on the way to work, coffee pods and pour-over tools delivered barista-quality brews at home, and Japanese knives had cooks channel their inner Iron Chef while they sliced and diced their weeknight dinner.

Weird Girl Autumn: an Ultimate Movie Guide
From House to Poor Things, here are 9 weird girl films to sink your teeth into this October.

If summer is for hot girls, then the season of slow decay is for the wistfully weird girl. While the like of Beetlejuice’s Lydia Deetz and The Craft’s witchy quartet have raised generations of teenage gothics and baby bats, cinema’s odd girl lineage is far more vast and varied than one may think.
From puberty by way of body horror and heroines gone utterly mad, to general bedroom-rotting malaise and everything in-between, this loosely-defined and comfortingly niche genre is perfect for those looking to replace a typical Halloween movie marathon with something a tad darker and left of center.

Jim Morrison’s Gravesite Bust Was Found. The Mystery of Its Disappearance Continues
In May, Paris police announced the discovery of the long-missing statue, stolen from the Doors frontman’s resting place in 1988. But questions linger about who took it and why

One day in May 1988, Antoine Le Grand, a photographer in Paris, was sent on a mysterious assignment for a culture magazine called Globe. Two young men had called the office claiming to be the culprits in one of rock’s most legendary heists: the recent theft of a 300-pound bust of Jim Morrison from his gravesite at the Père Lachaise cemetery. They wanted notoriety — and their pictures in a magazine. Le Grand went to an address in a tony part of town near the Left Bank of the Seine, the 14th arrondissement. “The house was really nice design and made by an architect,” he recalls. “Whoever lived there, they are really rich people.”

Apple-Pie Spiced Cider
Martha’s spiced cider recipe is the ultimate cool-weather drink. Flavored with warm spices like ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, and sweetened lightly with a touch of brown sugar, it has all the flavor of a slice of apple pie and is perfect for fall and winter entertaining. Even better, by using mostly ground spices, you won’t have to strain the mixture before serving—simply ladle it directly into mugs and garnish each one with a cinnamon stick. If you’re serving this to adults, consider adding half of a cup of brandy—try it with Calvados, the delicious apple brandy that hails from Normandy—or work in another dark spirit like bourbon or rum.

Create the ultimate “whodunit” experience.

It’s easier than it looks, and between the creepy vibes, dramatic reveals, and chaotic laughter, the night basically writes itself. We reached out to a few event planners for the step-by-step rundown on throwing the sort of murder mystery dinner your friends will be talking about for years to come.

The Pre-Dinner Party Cleaning Checklist Every Host Needs
Tidy smarter, not harder, before your guests arrive.

Hosting a dinner party? Beyond the menu, music, and décor, there’s one essential ingredient that sets the tone for the evening: a clean, inviting home. A welcoming, clutter-free space helps foster good energy (and that’s just the kind of atmosphere you want at your dinner party).
Whether it’s sparkling glassware or cat hair-free furniture, a little pre-party attention to detail goes a long way. Begin the deep cleaning early (we recommend at least one or two days before the event) by focusing on essential spaces, like the dining room and bathroom. Once those areas are handled, you can work your way toward finer touches like polishing silver and dusting forgotten corners.

How to Wash Merino Wool (Without Shrinking It), According to Experts
Smart, simple tips for cleaning your coziest essentials.

Merino wool has quite the well-earned reputation. Soft yet strong, warm yet breathable, it’s a favorite for both everyday basics and high-performance layers. But as anyone who’s ever accidentally shrunk a beloved sweater knows, caring for wool requires a gentler hand than most laundry loads.
Merino wool comes from—you guessed it—merino sheep, and it’s far softer and less itchy than many other wool fabrics. That, coupled with its temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking capabilities, make merino wool garments worth treasuring.
The good news? With the right approach, keeping these pieces soft, shapely, and looking brand new can be quite simple. Here, cleaning experts share their guidance for how to wash merino wool safely.
