The Brits got their very own Met Gala as the British Museum held its inaugural ball. The ball was pink-themed (because we guess trying to do a party theme based on the exhibits would result in a lot of unwelcome discussions about colonialism and cultural appropriation), and like the Met Gala, only some of the attendees bothered sticking to it. Let’s assess.
Chiwetel Ejiofor

That is not your best effort, Chiwetel.
Daphne Guinness

This all appears to be completely in order. Carry on, Daph.
James Norton

Well all right then, sir. We’ve been ragging on him for years for not getting the details right or not maximizing his looks for pictures, but the suit looks great, the details are impeccable, and the grooming is on point. The makeup is still looking a little orange, but we’re getting there.
Janet Jackson in Stéphane Rolland

Pure goddess. To be fair, she always was, but this gown is a stunner and a personal best for her. She hasn’t looked this amazing in a long time.
Kristin Scott Thomas

Oh, she’s entering her wacky period, we see. While we think she’s better suited to crisper, sleeker styles, we can see how she could make boho really work for her. There’s just a too-muchness here, and she’s not really suited to it. Hand this off to Helena Bonham Carter, Kristin. Or at least get rid of the wrap, which doesn’t go at all.
Laura Carmichael

Given the color, style and wrinkling, this was clearly designed to look like an old dress. Mission accomplished, we guess.
Naomi Campbell in Givenchy Couture

Rule Britannia, bitches. She’s a diva AND a patriot. Still awful, though. Flag dresses are for beauty pageants.
Nathalie Emmanuel

Girl, we don’t know who gave you that, but they didn’t have your best interests at heart. That’s really cheap-looking.
Pom Klementieff

Sexy Bride. That’s all we can see. Get rid of those stupid flounces in and put on a more…sophisticated pair of shoes that provide some sort of contrast and maybe this wouldn’t look so bridal, but it would still be a slightly silly, booby frock.
