It seems to us that she’s going through something of a style evolution at the moment; getting herself out of a years-long rut of column dresses and pantsuits and into a period where she’s trying things we don’t see her wear all that often, like floaty floral dresses. This isn’t bad at all for her. It feels a little mumsy in comparison to what she normally prefers, but there’s nothing wrong with moving into more mature styles if that’s the direction you want to go as you get older. If we could offer one suggestion to her: You can do that pose in a pantsuit or a column dress, but these sorts of floatier styles call for a more demure pose — which is why question whether they’re good for her in the long run. If nothing else, JLC is DECLARATIVE and CONFIDENT and she always wants you to know it. That kind of attitude doesn’t fly in a granny church dress.

Looks legitimately great. Beautiful color, impeccable tailoring, very good hair. Nicely done.

This doesn’t seem like the kind of style she’d normally choose, but if she wants to shake things up, that’s fine. We just don’t think this suits her. It would be improved if she’d worn the jacket closed, but even then, we’d still hate that satin skirt. The length and shape are kind of dour and it doesn’t work well with the jacket.
