Elle Fanning joined her co-stars Renate Reinsve and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas on the red carpet for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Sentimental Value. We think it’s fair to say they didn’t coordinate their looks ahead of time.
Elle Fanning in Valentino
This is a pleasant surprise, since her style choices for film festivals tend to be a bit more retro and princessy than this. It’s sharp and photographs well, even under TIFF lighting conditions. The pendant is stunning and totally makes the look. It all feels like a step forward in sophistication for her.
Renate Reinsve in Louis Vuitton
We know that we should be hating this. The floral over a silver textile tends to make both the floral and the silver look a little cheaper, but the overall effect here is kind of delightful and eye-catching. It might have been improved if the roses weren’t such a vivid blue, but we also think the vividness is the whole point. You simply can’t miss this dress and once you catch sight of it, you can’t stop looking at it. The relatively low-key styling was exactly the right choice.
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas
Nothing wrong with a simple, low-key dress for a film festival premiere, but this doesn’t photograph well at all. At the very least, some more aggressive styling and more eye-catching jewelry would help a lot.

Suddenly, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father — and deal with an American star dropped right into the middle of their complex family dynamics.
