There is a cruel irony to the idea of Angelina Jolie starring in a film titled Couture; crueler still if she winds up getting enough critical buzz to mount an Oscar campaign, because we’ll be stuck with months of her standing in front of the word COUTURE in something about as far from it as you can get. To wit:
She’s the absolute queen of “give us nothing.” Imagine if we have to do an awards season style retrospective for her. It’ll be the same picture run fifteen times. It goes without saying that there’s nothing here worth discussing or looking at. We can understand wanting to put the focus on the work and all, but at the same time, you’ve got to promote that work and showing up for pictures in the least photogenic outfit possible isn’t the smartest choice.
