Red Carpet Rundown: DOWNTON ABBEY: THE GRAND FINALE New York Premiere

The cast of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale came to New York for one more round of American-style glam. We’re feeling a little verklempt because PBS invited us to the cast’s first appearance and Q&A in New York after the first season aired and it was genuinely charming how many of them couldn’t wait to get out and see the city once the event was over. Still gonna judge them, though.

Meh. It’s fine.

Allen Leech

We suspect this is one of those outfits that looked better in person. In pictures, the proportions and fit look way off.

Douglas Reith

A gentleman.

Elizabeth McGovern

LOVE this. It absolutely doesn’t need that train because you can barely notice it, what with all the color and sparkle. We love how modern it feels, which is exactly how every member of this cast should be dressing right now. The colors look fantastic on her and your eye goes straight to her in any group shot. Well done.

Harry Hadden-Paton

It’s a gorgeous suit in a great color.

Hugh Bonneville

It’s a tiny bit snug, but aside from that, it all works for us.

Joanne Froggatt

Simple, straight-up glam that puts her ladies maid character to bed for good. She looks good, but we hate the wethead.

Kevin Doyle

It doesn’t take an exciting photograph, but we can tell that’s a nice suit with a subtle texture to it and the tie makes a good choice.

Laura Carmichael

Meh. The color is just slightly off from her own coloring, so it doesn’t look like she’s wearing a skin dress, but it’s still not a great shade for her.

Michelle Dockery

It’s glam and it gets the job done for her. We hope it was comfortable as well. Obviously, the point of red carpet maternity wear isn’t to hide or minimize the pregnancy, but this does a good job of ensuring that your eye doesn’t go straight to her belly.

Penelope Wilton

This looks great. The key to red carpet style for senior ladies is to find something comfortable and either boldly graphic or brightly colored. It helps if you can also snag a killer pair of flats or low-heeled shoes to finish the look off.

Raquel Cassidy

It’s a decent gown, although we dislike the collar/halter detail the longer we look at it. With the blonde hair, the color kind of washes her out.
