Do we love that Amy Madigan spent an entire very successful awards season in pants and capped it off with the most unique tuxedo of the night at the Oscars? Yes. Do we actually love the tuxedo in question? No.

It’s too thickly over-embellished and the effect is somewhat inexplicably birdlike. It’s the kind of design that tends to pull focus from the wearer and what she’s doing because all you can focus on is that nutty jacket. On the other hand, it speaks to her own sense of originality and to the lifetime of experience that more or less prevents her from submitting herself to unnecessary nonsense like shapewear, skirts and heels. She was never a fussy girl anyway, even when she was an ingenue. She’s doing it her way and we love that for her. We just don’t like that jacket.
