Queen Maxima continued her New York visit as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Security, taking Princess Amalia along for a meeting with Bill Gates and Michael Bloomburg. She got a little Chanel-adjacent for the occasion.

We figure there are good enough reasons as to why the Queen of the Netherlands would want to avoid wearing Chanel, what with that whole Nazi connection, but we’re afraid we aren’t particularly in love with this slightly deconstructed take on the classic Chanel aesthetic. The jumpsuit is actually pretty cute and looks better without the jacket, although it’s not likely she’d have sported a sleeveless jumpsuit for an occasion like this, even with her wackier style preferences at play. With the jacket on, it looks like she’s wearing a pair of extremely high-waisted pants and there’s too much fringe edging in too small an area. The color does nothing for her. She started pulling her hair back in the NYC humidity, but we still think she’d be better off in a low pony. Amalia looks very cute. Love the boots and bracelets.
