Let’s check in on some of the posh Britlebrities who stopped by the Royal Academy of the Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party, shall we? And by “check in on,” we of course mean judge their outfits.
Alexa Chung in Erdem
The dress is part of the Erdem Fall 2025 collection and was a collaboration between the house and British painter Kaye Donachie, which tends to make it exceedingly appropriate for the setting. It’s an arresting image in beautifully soft colors, but we feel like the styling is lacking somehow. We’d suggest some jewelry and shoes that pick up the blues in the image.
Emily Carey
She’s pretty unrecognizable from her House of the Dragon days. This is kind of cute, but the details are off. You can’t sport a brown leather purse and silver leather sandals. It just doesn’t work. The pixie cut is cute, but that color is doing nothing at all for her. The cut works well with a heavy beat, but her makeup looks aging to us.
Helena Bonham Carter
It feels like we haven’t seen her in a minute. Nothing’s really changed, has it? Not that we expected her to suddenly embrace chic minimalism or whatever. We love the whole look except for the shoes. They’re a cute pair, but they look horrible with this dress.
James Norton
It’s amazing how we dislike every single thing he’s wearing. The shirt is giving pajama top with those cuffless sleeves (and the tuck job is terrible). We don’t necessarily mind the flared white pants, but they look awful with a beat-up pair of black dress shoes. We’d say he’s resting on pretty, but we’ve always maintained that he’s one of the prettiest unphotogenic celebrities working today, so maybe it’s time to stop resting.
Jenna Coleman in Erdem
Again, the image is lovely, but the placement of it tends to make the skirt difficult to style. That top is HORRIBLE with it. Rather than a crop top, the skirt should be paired with a blouse you can tuck into it. Also, the shoes are pretty bad too.
Kristin Scott Thomas
She looks like the coolest person there. The suit is great. We like the idea of those clunky sandals, but we don’t like that they’re a focus-pulling black.
