Cannes Film Festival 2025: Taraji P. Henson in Oscar de la Renta: IN or OUT?

Well, we did it again. In the haze of our early morning editorial meeting, we sifted through all of the Cannes content on offer and set aside one dress to be the one for the kittens to vote on today. Unfortunately, it was this dress, worn by Taraji P. Henson at the premiere of The History of Sound that we foolishly put aside for judgment:

And as we tend to do so often because we never learn from our mistakes, we realized in the bright light of mid-day that she looks freaking spectacular and we’d be dumb to put the dress up to a vote. But we’re gonna do it anyway, because we need a break. Putting aside how flawless the hair and makeup is, we like the dress for being a bold, bright yellow instead of an insipid buttery yellow like we’ve been seeing of late. But we can see the argument that this shade is harsh, just as we can see that the texture might come off a little overdone to some folks. Admittedly, it does look a little like those old rubber swimming caps, but that’s really not a dealbreaker to us. So you make the call for real:
