Personally, we think it’s pretty cringey when TV shows are turned into live theater, but we doubt the hardcore fans of Stranger Things are all that upset about having even more story on offer, in a medium in which they might not spend a lot of time normally. So it’s all good, although you won’t be catching us at any performances of Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The cast of the TV show apparently doesn’t mind it either, because a good chunk of them showed up for opening night. Let’s assess.
Jamie Campbell Bower
We like this a lot. It’s a very modern and trendy take on the tuxedo that actually does something interesting with it. This isn’t a black tie kind of night, so the tank top doesn’t offend, but we’d love to see this taken in a more formal direction.
Charlie Heaton
The grooming is terrible and the jacket is giving us a migraine, but it’s a genuinely interesting suit.
Natalia Dyer
Low key cute.
Noah Schnapp
Surprisingly formal. We can’t say we love the skinny tie here.
Priah Ferguson
A perfectly acceptable gown in a color that does nothing for her. The fit’s a little wonky to boot.
Cara Buono
We honestly thought this was Millie Bobby Brown for a good five minutes before we realized who it was. We could like this for being bold and colorful, but the top is shaped terribly, that’s way too much moiré for one outfit, and that elastic hem is a crime.
Brett Gelman
Go home.
Matthew Modine
It’s a cute look, but he probably didn’t know his castmates were going to show up all dressy. The jacket’s really nice, but he needs some contrast in the pant color.
