After taking last year off to focus on her recovery, Princess Cathy, Colonel of the Irish Guards, is back wearing the green (sort of) and the shamrocks on Saint Patrick’s Day as she visited the regiment to hand out shamrocks and take the salute. But what’s really important is the shocking development in her personal style. After over a decade of rigidly matching every part of her outfit to every other part of her outfit, your princess…
… is serving up a little contrast and tone-on-tone action. First, that coat is a pure stunner. Two years ago, she ditched showing up in head-to-toe green for an all-teal outfit but here, she’s showing a much more sophisticated sense of color. We LOVE the combination of that green hat paired with that peacock blue coat. Most shocking of all: black boots! A completely different color not found anywhere else on her person! We get that the monochromatic looks were a QEII thing, but to be blunt about it, she was a tiny little old lady when she devised that style. Kate’s got the height and bearing of a model, so she can stand to dress a little more stylishly and a little less like a parade float. This is one of her best coat looks ever.
