Golden Globes 2025: MARIA Star Angelina Jolie in Alexander McQueen: IN or OUT?

We have done more red carpet opinionating in the last 48 hours than we did in the previous month, so we’re gonna make ourselves some sandwiches and recharge our batteries while you guys handle this one. Besides, we genuinely aren’t sure what we think this time. Maria star Angelina Jolie has been in a decade-long style rut in which she never once wore a memorable outfit and rarely stepped away from her preference for flowy neutrals. For the Golden Globes, she did that thing we urge everyone in a style rut to do: she switched things up.

We’re inclined to love it just because it represents something different for her. It’s still not the kind of style we’d recommend. She desperately needs to get over her fear of colors and we think she should consider freshening up her hair and makeup. But we can’t deny that it’s a great dress that signals a (slightly) new direction. But is it enough? Should she have done something new with the styling? Do the shoes work? Is that hem annoying you as much as it does us? Or to put it more succinctly:
