The musical adaptation of Kiss of the Spider Woman had its premiere at Sundance (which responded with a ten-minute standing ovation) and star Jennifer Lopez showed up in the exact dress you would expect her to wear.
She’s all about giving the people what they want. We suppose web-themed gowns like this are practically de rigueur for this film, so we’ll try not to get too huffy too early about the theme-dressing. Having said that, we think the design is a little tacky. You can do the beaded spiderweb, the beaded flowers, OR the lace, but you can’t have all three at the same time. Given her tearful response to the film’s reception, we suspect she’s going to be taking a page from the Demi Moore/Pamela Anderson “You bitches were mean to me but now I’m back” playbook when it comes time to promote the film. Good luck with that, girl.
