One more spotlight post for the cast of Wicked before we wrap up our coverage of the LA premiere with one big red carpet rundown. While some might consider what Michelle Yeoh wore to the premiere to be a little bit themey, we tend to see it as an example of what we call tone-dressing.
What we mean by that is that she wore something vaguely witchy, but she’s not trying to recreate a specific costume or even to replicate the film’s aesthetic. Looking at this design from a different angle, it has more of a punk vibe to it than an Oz-ian one. You might be thinking that the shredded elements ruin an otherwise standard chic gown, but we would argue that it takes a standard design and pushes it in an unexpected direction. We like it. As always with her, the jewelry is extremely well chosen (and probably from her own collection). Not really feeling the blonde, though.
