We’re having a love-hate reaction to Elle Fanning’s ensemble choice for the Governors Awards. We love it for being too much, but we’re also not loving the kind of too-much that it is. If that makes sense to you, you’ve been reading us for too long and should probably go expose yourself to higher culture and weightier topics. If you’re not remotely interested in such lofty pursuits, walk with us.
It’s fabulous and draggy. It’s giving Holiday Party circa 1967. The beading is very pretty and the faux fur trim is a hoot. HOWEVER. The color is terrible on her. This sort of minty-sagey-bathroomy green keeps popping up lately and we have never once liked seeing it. In addition, the plunge of that neckline makes no sense with the rest of the design and the necklace is lost among all the foofaraw. We love the idea of it, but we can’t help seeing all the issues in the details.
