Emilia Perez star Zoe Saldana has been riding the wave of buzz her performance has afforded and quite smartly, has also expanded her style range and taken some risks while this brighter spotlight is on her. She came to the Elle Women of the Year party working two extremely dicey elements: all-denim and an exposed zipper.

And she looks fantastic working them. We’re not sure we ever could have predicted what a Schiaparelli gown might look like, but this one is surprisingly conventional for the house. The corset-style seaming and exaggerated hips work really well for her. The accessorizing is exactly as focus-pulling as the dress requires. It all feels very balanced and well-curated. We even like the wet-look hair. Quibbles: it’s clearly very stiff and we’ll never love a center skirt slit, but these are minor. She looks great.
