In what may quite possibly be the most “HEY, GIRLFRIEND!” move of all time, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company is hosting its Shine Away Experiential Event, which is described as “a transformative two days of conversation, panels, workshops, performances, culinary experiences, wellness moments and a curated marketplace of female-founded brands.” We bet there’s a lot of wine-drinking and mug-cradling as well. Of course she was going to invite a whole truckload of her celebrity girlfriends along, and she posed with pals Laura Dern and Octavia Spencer on day one.
They didn’t see the need to complicate things for the occasion and neither do we. All of these looks are fine. We probably wouldn’t do much in the way of critiquing even if they were bad, simply because the event, while clearly promotional in tone, doesn’t have the same sort of look-at-me vibe of so many celebrity public events. They all look pretty cute. Would we have advised Laura to pair those boots with that dress? No. We probably would’ve waved Reese away from her shoes too, just for being matchy, but they’re really cute. We would like Octavia’s look a lot more without that tie in the front. Her sandals are super-cute.
