A whole bunch of fashionable stars came out for the CFDA Fashion Awards. Looks were served, but distressingly few of them managed to even come close to being chic. Let’s yell at these folks!

The bodice is too tight, the sequined plaid looks a little goofy, the fishtail is awkward and the shoes are ugly.

Love her and fully support her quirky style, but this is a hideous design.
Blake Lively in Michael Kors Collection
Sort of unassailable, but we’d argue the jacket looks dumb over the gown. The shoes look like they’re killing her.
Charles Melton in Coach
Getting a little tired of this guy stepping out in hobowear. Pick a suit that fits.
Chloe Fineman in Wiederhoeft
The skirt has this serious, heavy, businesslike quality to it which makes the sequined portion look really odd.
Ciara in Vera Wang
Meh. The top looks too much like a bathing suit for the pants to work. The whole thing comes off too casual.
Danny Ramirez in Willy Chavarria
This is glorious. The sleeves are a little too long, but the fit is pretty great everywhere else. The grooming is flawless and we love that giant tie.
Ella Emhoff in Coach
Not even she can make this mess look cool.
Erykah Badu in Thom Browne
She, on the other hand, elevates everything she wears because she’s a goddess.

Enh. It feels way too casual for the venue.
Hari Nef in Proenza Schouler
Putting aside our intense dislike of fringe, let alone leather fringe, this just looks heavy and dreary to us. At the very least, it could use some jewelry.
Katie Holmes in Carolina Herrera
So elegant, it’s practically Carolina Herrera cosplay. The colors look great on her.
Kelsea Ballerini in Coach
We’re all for a country gal working some country style, but this is a bedspread. Admittedly, it’s a bedspread that looks pretty good with a leather moto.

This is gorgeous. Love the eye makeup but we don’t think it works with the style of gown.

It’s okay, but boy, do we ever miss knee length skirts. It’s been years, fashion people. Let’s bring them back.

The pants would work if they were in the same off-white as the tunic. The shoes are dumb.

Teyana Taylor in LaQuan Smith
All the credit in the world to her for being about to work it, but this is tacky as hell.
Troye Sivan in Tanner Fletcher
Love the jacket, hate the pants.
Tyla in Archival Gucci
This is pretty hot, as sheer lace minis go. While we think the green granny panties are a hilariously unexpected choice, we don’t think they actually improve the look.
Victoria Monét in LaQuan Smith
Also impressive yet tacky. It’s kind of a theme for the night.
Yseult in Rick Owens
We honestly can’t tell what we’re looking at. Killer boots, though.
