Margaret Qualley has been a Chanel brand ambassador from practically the moment she started getting noticed, which means most of her promo style has been heavy with the house style for many years. For that reason, we honestly can’t tell if she’s got an incredibly awkward sense of style…

…or if she’s simply at the House of Chanel’s mercy. Other Chanel ambassadors have their share of red carpet WTFery, but none are so consistent in their awkward choices as she is, which leads us to believe that this is how she’d dress, whether Chanel was paying her or not. To be clear, we don’t think this is a disaster. As sheer skirts go, that is one of the prettier and more interesting variants. But the dance leotard and the knee-high lace socks look horrible with it. The tiara strikes us a little goofily juvenile, but it might work well with a more traditional gown. We get the impression that she loves the way she looks here, and we would feel wrong suggesting she adopt a more conservative or traditional sort of style, but we’ve literally never seen one outfit of hers that looked right to us, let alone chic or stylish.
