Time to start wrapping up our coverage of the 2024 Academy Museum Gala, wouldn’t you say? These poor stars have been waiting so long to hear our opinions about their outfits. We just can’t bear to keep them waiting any longer! Won’t you help?

Andra Day in Georges Chakra

This is mostly just fabric artfully draped over her, but it’s a gorgeous textile and it’s all she needs to serve a stunning moment.

Anna Sawai in Louis Vuitton

You know what? We love this. No, really. The shapes are unexpected, but in a pleasing sort of way. We don’t think most wearers could pull this off, but she’s making it look easy. The bag is a nice touch. You don’t want to clutter this look up with too much in the way of accessorizing.

Awkwafina in Monique Lhuillier

It’s giving Barbara Bush.

Carrie Coon in Patou

Definitely a trend. This dress is gorgeous on her, but the color is way too close to her hair and skin tones.

Danielle Deadwyler in Ferragamo
Pin

This is an interesting, armor-like dress that has a sort of fantasy vibe to it that really suits her. It should go to the floor, however.

Eiza González in Nina Ricci
Pin

It looks like something Sandra Bullock would have worn to the Oscars in the late ’90s. That’s not a bad reference, but it feels a bit nightgowny.

Gabrielle Union in Elie Saab Couture
Pin

The color looks gorgeous on her. The neckline doesn’t work well with the necklace and it tends to make her look much larger up top than she actually is. A sweetheart neckline would be perfect here.

Greta Lee in Loewe

Bed sheets.

Hannah Einbinder in Louis Vuitton

We love how weird and sculptural this is. It wouldn’t have been our first pick for her, but we love that she’s willing to try out the more daunting styles.

Joey King in Carolina Herrera
Pin

The design and styling are fairly low-key and unfussy. It’s that yellow doing all the work of making this memorable and eye-catching.

Kaia Gerber in Vintage Givenchy Couture
Pin

This is gorgeous; the best thing she’s ever worn on a red carpet. Should’ve gone to Nicole Kidman.

Karla Sofía Gascón in Saint Laurent
Pin

It’s a great style for her. We just wish there was a little more sparkle or something. Those buttons probably wouldn’t work well with a broach, though.

Kendall Jenner in Schiaparelli Couture
Pin

We really tried to be bitchy about this, but aside from the underboob, we just can’t work up any opposition, although we don’t think the blonde suits her.

Louisa Jacobson in Louis Vuitton
Pin

It’s a sharply interesting design. We’re not sure it’s the best choice for her, if only because it tends to overwhelm her and we think she’s in a career space where she should be promoting herself more.

Maya Erskine in Carolina Herrera
Pin

Juvenile.

Michaela Jaé Rodriguez in Georges Chakra
Pin

Super-hot.

Naomi Scott in Carolina Herrera
Pin

Another bold yellow dress! It’s almost a trend at this point. We’re not sure it’s the best color for her, but the look itself is fine and memorable.

Niecy Nash-Betts in Valdrin Sahiti
Pin

The Mistress of Fit has fallen down. It’s a lovely dress, but we’re shocked she opted to go out in something at least one bust size too small for her.

Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal (in The Row)
Pin

They always look like snooty stoners to us.

Phoebe Dynevor in Louis Vuitton
Pin

Not crazy about the bustline or the tick straps, but the dress is interesting.

Rachel Sennott in Jean Paul Gaultier
Pin

Okay, it’s a trend. The design doesn’t suit her, nor does the Hillary hair.

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks
Pin

Mom and Dad Hollywood look great.

Sandra Oh in Giambattista Valli Couture
Pin

We love the big sleeves, but we feel like they throw the proportions off. They would work better if the skirt was black too.

Zoe Saldaña in Harris Reed
Pin

If you see a starlet wearing a dress that makes her look like a vase or a lamp base, you can bet it’s a Harris Reed. This is interesting and memorable, but we don’t like the black-backed white lace at all.

More to come in Part TWO!
