2024 Academy Museum Gala: BLITZ and THE OUTRUN Star Saoirse Ronan in Louis Vuitton: IN or OUT?

We’re always saying that Blitz star Saoirse Ronan has an admirably off-beat sense of style, but she tends to choose editorial pieces that don’t work well on a red carpet, in pale colors that tend to wash her out. She has CLEARLY listened to our unasked-for advice, because she showed up at the Academy Museum Gala in a fairly straightforward design in very flattering black. Now, having received everything we asked for from her, we’re going to be total bitches about it and make you vote on her dress.

Too severe? Too minimal? Too dark? We could see the argument that this embrace of classic elegance tends to strip away her personality or render her generic, but we think this look is actually really striking on her. Her makeup is flawless and the jewelry is restrained and well-chosen. A dress like this is more dramatic without a lot of accessorizing, which is why we don’t mind the severe hair. For us, this is a win, but like we said, we can see the argument that it’s too sedate or mature, so let’s hear it:
