Pope Tilda is at the San Sebastian Film Festival, where she is promoting her collaboration with Pedro Almodovar, The Room Next Door, and also serving very papal sorts of looks (in the sense that they’re either minimalist or weird).

Why are there not more fans on red carpets and photo calls? It’s the perfect accessory for a picture taking situation and it keeps the subject from getting all sweaty and shiny. Plus it just looks fabulous. It certainly gave this outfit a little bit of a visual boost. We’re not crazy about the center slit or the mismatched pinks, but she’s lending the look a sense of drama and severity that makes it more interesting than it is. Trying to make an outfit that’s entirely too fussy and overdesigned into something stark and edgy. She almost manages it, but this ensemble is just too ugly to work. The pontiff should not be subjecting herself to ruffles, for they are not to her benefit.
