Naomi Ackie in Loewe at the BLINK TWICE London Premiere

We figured we’d give Blink Twice star Naomi Ackie the spotlight treatment, since her costars Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz (who is also her director) tend to soak up most of the attention in any given situation. But we also wanted to feature this frock because you are simply not prepared for the scrolldown.

You didn’t see any of that coming, did you? We thought about throwing this one out to a vote, but we’re pretty sure we can predict how it’s going to go. We truly enjoy Loewe’s completely offbeat perspective on essential elements of fashion design like shape and proportion. It’s always good to have someone poking the conventions, especially if they can get their off-the-beaten-path perspective onto the most mainstream of fashion venues, the Hollywood red carpet scene. What we’re trying to say is that we appreciate this design and the fact that she chose it for this event, but we don’t actually like it. It has a beautiful drape to it and that pearl gray looks lovely on her, but the design is hellaciously awkward. The way the bodice attaches to the skirt is completely unworkable and so distracting that everything else about the look fades away.
