Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star Anya Taylor-Joy can’t stop, won’t stop serving (awkwardly styled) looks on this relentless press tour. She’s in New York, bouncing around the city and stopping to pose for pictures in her little getups. Let’s assess.
AT THE LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK STUDIOS
We genuinely, sincerely do not understand the game plan here. Is there a game plan? Are we being perhaps a little optimistic in assuming there is? As we noted with her style last week, good red carpet style is about more than having a good dress, it’s about having a plan. These are random items that don’t belong together and actively fight against each other. We can see how those boots might work with those shorts (even though they’re awful), but neither look right with that ugly skin condition sweater.
ARRIVING AT THE GOOD MORNING AMERICA STUDIOS IN ACNE STUDIOS
It’s hard to get a white dress and white sandals wrong, but we’ll give her this one. We don’t love any of it, but except for that oddly heavy jacket (it’s not chilly this week at all), it looks like an ensemble instead of a pile of pieces.
LEAVING THE GOOD MORNING AMERICA STUDIOS IN MARNI
This is another example of how she doesn’t have a game plan. It’s not required that all of your outfits for a promo tour be within a certain style range. And God knows we’ve done enough railing against theme dressing on red carpets. But even so, a press tour is supposed to have a sort of brand-unified feel to it. This is so vastly different from most of what she’s been wearing lately that it looks like she switched gears and is out promoting her rom com. The dress is pretty enough, and the painted canvas effect makes it more interesting than the usual floral, but we’re not crazy about the silhouette or the high collar.
