Let’s take a break from all that high-falutin’ Cannes gownery for some good old professional working style, courtesy of the stars who came out to sell their wares at the Disney upfronts.
Angela Bassett
It’s a shame the jacket’s pulling, but it’s the only flaw in this sharp business-glam look.
Emma Roberts
It’s twee and witchy which is a good style intersection for her. It doesn’t feel all that fresh, however.
James Marsden
An outfit like this, on any other 50-year-old man, would instantly catapult him to the 70-and-above section, but this asshole can pull it off.
Jenny Slate
Dreary and forgettable. Just wear a suit next time, girl.
Joshua Jackson
This is… kind of cute? We’re not loving the shoes and we feel like it needs a belt, but we don’t mind it.
Julianne Hough in Galvan London
This is an across-the-board bit of style advice for the ladies that we almost never make for the guys, but if you don’t want to think about it too much and you just want to appear professional, just wear a suit. Make sure the color pops or it has some sort of twist, just to keep it from being too businesslike.
Kathryn Hahn
This almost works, but the top feels more like a smock.
Kerry Washington in Brandon Maxwell
She’s going hard and we respect that, however her dress looks like a hotel key board behind the concierge’s desk.
Lisa Ann Walter in Karolina’s Kingdom
Also went hard, also have to respect it. Still, this is very much a night time look, so we’d have advised a bit of a dialing back.
Patti Lupone
Fancy sweatsuit, which is pretty much what we’d expect from her at an event like this.
Quinta Brunson
Cute, but the bust is too tight and her feet have disappeared.
Sheryl Lee Ralph in BITE Studios
It doesn’t need the collar or the cuffs, but it’s an interesting and sharp design.
